Mousset

Ozzy is our best option to do that role right now. Could Mcgoldrick, burke, Brewster, or Mousset play there? Possibly but I don't see any of them pressing like he can.

As for Mousset if he can get anywhere near the player we know he can be he's a threat at this level. We don't need 90 minutes from him with the options we have. I hope he pushes on from this as I think the style of play would suit him well. Sharp gets plenty of space in the channels but doesn't have the pace and power of Lys to fully punish sides.

He would be best striker at the club if he could stay fit. Hope he can stay fit but how many times have we said this
This. He's got all the attributes to be a monster at this level. Hopefully he's in the right place mentally after suffering a few setbacks whilst with us. Yesterday was a good start to repaying the faith everyone's put in him to deliver. Small steps but steps nonetheless.

he must know he is ruining his career by over-eating.
Where has all this "over eating" come from? Has anybody within the club said he has a diet problem? Has anybody ever seen him eating a KFC or a McDonald's?

Some people are naturally heavier in the way they're built. I'm more concerned about him pulling his hamstring when he runs as that is clearly a problem of his and has nothing to do with what he eats.

I think a lot of people have seen him in fast food places around Sheff. Also, I believe a lot has been leaked from the club with regards to him not eating right... possibly even by Wilder himself but don't quote me on it

I am desperate for Moose to shut up the doubters I really am. Whether he is just unlucky in terms of his injuries or his head is not quite right I don't know, but if we can get his head right he will terrorise this league.

Put it away well. But he's putting too many kebabs away too- looks 2 stone too heavy. Just don't understand why the fitness team cant slim him down. Unless they do it's 20 min cameos only, after the last gasp chasing down the ball which he did well he was fucked.

Two stones lighter he would be the real deal. Right now he ain't.
I thought the same until he chased down a Stoke defender tbh he looked an athletic monster of a unit
So likely the bulking isn’t down to Big Macs n KFC but down to core body work to ( cough ) build up his ability to become less injury prone and play a 90 minute game

Sadly, "Fat lad from Montivilliers" doesn't scan properly 😉
Un garcon grasse de Montivilliers
Parlez vous.

Fits in with an actual frog song you know

Buzzing when he scored. No point me repeating all that's been said on this forum regards Moose.

“We had to work on him, to lose a bit,” Wilder said. “But he’s also had to do the work himself.
“He can do all of that, but if he goes home and fills his face with McDonald’s and Haribos then it’s going to be a struggle isn’t it.”

Another view as to the long disputed question of why does he seem overweight (in footballing terms as let’s be honest most of us would love to be in the shape he is) could largely be down to injury more than what he’s eating. For example, all his injuries i can think of him picking up have been hamstrings, quadriceps, a foot injury etc. They were all a decent amount of time out aswell. All those injuries will have prevented his ability to run for a long time period and therefore can’t burn calories through cardio. People will suggest gym work as weights can actually help you lose more weight than cardio but there’s only so much weight training and gym work you can do as professional footballer. We’re not trying to turn him into an American footballer. Obviously it’s been well reported about his diet which doesn’t help at all but it’s very difficult to balance how many calories you lose and take in when you can’t run and are limited as to the amount of gym work the coaches and physios will allow you to do. I’m not saying that mousset is a hard working gym machine with a strict diet but just another factor that gets overlooked.

We all thought he looked trimmer than anticipated and well up for it.
The goal moved him to a different level and his off the ball harrying was superb.

Not counting any chickens (gulp, Nandos), though.

Well iv been told that he was out on West St sat nite n got thrown out because he was harassing some ladies, no idea about how true it is just what iv been told
No doubt straight to kebab shop after! 😂

I'm not convinced that the Ozzy role works every game. I think it was good in the first half on saturday, but like in many games, he ends up being a bit lost when teams decide to cut him out. Second half when we changed things around, Billy was getting over to the left a lot more and it meant that the Ozzy role was defunct. What that did was create a huge hole in the middle, which Mousse was able to fill.

I think because Ozzy runs around a lot, then he's seen as an energetic player that needs to be played, but i think that we can either swap him out for another central midfielder like Hourihane (or Berge if/ when he's fit), put didsy in front of Fleck/ Norwood or we do what we did on Saturday and bring in another central striker whilst Billy goes hunting for the ball down the wings, to turn provider - A role that he played a little more under Wilder in the first Championship season.

It's been widely accepted by those close to the club that Mousse and McBurnie were both struggling with their attitudes off the pitch. They were both living a bit more of a party life than was required of them and i think Wilder had also made reference to Mousse and his Macdonalds issues in the past.

Mousse had issues with injuries, but he was also having really big issues with diet as well. That in itself isn't an issue if he's hitting the numbers in training. I don't have an issue with Mousse carrying a few Kg's as we've seen in games like against Man U that the weight can give the impression of strength...

However, as you allude to, his hamstrings are a result of poor conditioning and that will always be his downfall if its not addressed, which at the start of the season, it clearly wasn't being addressed.

When you put it all together it just means that he's never going to play consistently unless one or all of those aspects change. And that comes down to the attitude of the player. He only needs to look at his skipper to realise that he can do a lot more.

Reaffirmed somewhat by a second manager.

If you can't be bothered to read, it's more or less Jokanovic saying "Mousset needs to help himself. He can have a good career if he wants to, but he needs to put the work in. He's improved, but needs to do a lot more."

I can't see him still being here next season. Hopefully we can just extract what we can from him a la Saturday.
