I’ve gone for Blackman. He’s showed in the last couple of games but why he should be number 1. He’s made some great saves but he’s quicker at distributing the ball to the defenders and deep-lying midfielder which lets us keep the tempo up, as well.

But yes, I think the play off ship sailed when Coutts broke his leg.

Excellent point. I hadn't considered that.

I blindly voted Fleck as in the absence of Coutts he's our best player.

However, your point usurps that as you're bang on the money. A CF who can score from no where and only needs half a sniff can make the difference and it's that we've really missed since Christmas.

The beauty about our forward line is that everyone offers something a little bit different. Each of them are just as important as each other IMO.

Duffy has the skill & creativity to unlock defenses in an instant.

Brooks is very direct & isn’t scared to run at a defender to put him on the back foot.

Fleck keeps things ticking over in the middle & again can run at defenders or produce a pass to create chances.

Sharp is the best finisher at the club & is very dangerous when in the right place.

Clarke battles & harrases defenders to force mistakes & is capable of scoring all types of goals.

The Don is similar to Clarke but stronger & faster. Loves to play on the last man & is also a great finisher.

For me, where we would struggle if injury strikes is the central defenders. Specifically if Stearman or O’Connell were to be injured I fear we’d be in trouble. They’re both pretty much irreplaceable at the moment & have been very good of late.

I think Wright is an able replacement for Stearman, so my vote goes to O’Connell.

It's probably because in the deep sub-conciousness of many of our posters, the last time we had a decent team with a modicum of success our star man was also a No.10!!

Duffy, I know that we have strengthened the position that he plays but for me he is still the best at what he does and crucially the guy that makes us tick.

To be honest though I think the question goes beyond one player. All of the regular 11 are crucial.
