Most Goals in a United Game

If memory serves, we put seven past Ipswich at the Lane, and (this is a bit of a reach, memory-wise) didn't Len Badger score the last goal?

On the reserve game theme, our reserves lost 2-10 to Forest Resreves at the Lane in December 1979. We were 2-0 down, pulled it back to 2-2 early in the second half and then collapsed!

We also lost 10-0 to Villa reserves in 77-8. Our reserves were shit in the late 70's and early 80's. We finished bottom of the Central League for about 4 seasons running.
Yes Forest, perhaps not Man city for 10 2 . Are you certain it wasn't earlier than 79?

No. Stan (I think) had a header from a corner that was going in and their defender did a spectacular dive and caught the ball. There was a pic in the next programme of him holding the ball with a wry smile on his face as the United players appeal. You couldn't possibly get a more obvious pen! He wasn't sent off though. That pen made it 3-3.

We got another pen in injury time as Edwards was chopped down. That was scored as well.
I was a nipper at the time but I vaguely remember a game where their keeper had the ball, our forward annoyed him, and the keeper either took a swing or in some way fouled the forward.

Whatever it was it went from their keeper having the ball to us having a penalty.

No idea of the details if it wasn't that Orient game.

:)
I do remember it raining all the game and that the pitch had a lot of surface water

Help an old man with his memory please; was this the game that Keith stepped over the ball and ran around the keeper before scoring in the empty net, kop end?

Maybe the best goal I've seen at the Lane. From memory he dummied both the keeper and a defender by running over the ball then walked it towards the goal and I think saluted *before* he put it in the net.

The whole manoeuvre was reminiscent of Pele's dummy of the keeper in the 1970 World Cup, apart from Pele missed and Keith scored. :-)

Just checked the 79-80 programmes. It was 15th December 1979 to be accurate :)
What was the name of the keeper that played in the reserves match? Could have been that triallist from somewhere down south that let in aabout 7 goals in the 1st half before being subbed. Cant remember who replaced him in goal (must be an outfield player)

Sheffield United 4 Exeter 4 in 2011-12 season, we threw it away in the last minute (again).
