Most enjoyable promotion?

I must emphasise once again , I am delighted Sheffield united have gained promotion , but this beats getting into the Premier League in 2006 ? really ? .like Derby in the mid eighty's , being in 3rd tier of English Football is an embarrassment , there is no other way to describe it , and getting out and back to the land of respectability , is to be quietly welcomed , rather than loudly celebrated. You should win promotion , you're bigger than everyone else , don't get too carried away . it's .the 3rd division for fucks sake .
Right ,, back on track , job done , and with Chris Wilder running the show ,(as long as he gets some financial backing from the thus far tight fisted Arab Prince ) , status back amongst the elite (Premier League ) could happen , sooner than you think

Then you can pop the Champagne Corks and throw a few streamers

That's right mate, beat Cardiff Tuesday night in front of 43k (fans stood on cricket side) and then beat Watford 3-0 on Saturday in front of 38k - happy days

We weren't promoted after the Cardiff thrashing. We went into the Watford game needing points.

I was about 9 years old when 1971 happened, and I have enjoyed them all since then, BUT, having a true Blade co-owner, a true Blade manager and a true Blade captain, plus the sheer likeability of the team, this season has been outstanding in my book.

Shout out to the U23's, U18's and all the academy staff as well.

One job left to do, and we are going to do it.

The thought of Captain Billy Sharp lifting the League trophy in front of a sell out Bramall Lane, on the last game of the season, will bring tears to the eyes of even the toughest cynic amongst us.

Definitely Leicester with the added ingredient of it being filmed in the greatest football documentary ever produced, including the greatest half-time teamtalk ever delivered.

Scullion always hit the bar.
Tony field always fell over.
Terry Garbutt always turned through 360 degrees

Indeed he did, with the score at 0-0. We signed him shortly after.(Shortly after being some weeks after not a couple of minutes after he hit the bar).
Harris tried to sign him in November/December 1967 but Scullion turned down the move. We then made moves to sign TC but Watford didnt want to sell him until they were knocked out of the FA Cup. Ironically we played them in the 3rd round and beat them 1-0. Then TC signed for us on 1st February 1968

this is the best promotion

we are winning the title by some way

having a session in the Stray Sod pub at n La Fuente commercial centre Villamartin to watch the Bradford match with other blades in the vicinity
Hope to be sober enough to find it

Leicester for me

Every single thing about that day was perfect.

Us promoted to the top flight, scoring five goals, taking over the entire city and stadium, boiling hot sunshine, Martin Hodge the pig slagging us off because he got knocked out by saving a shot with his face.

Even going 1-0 down only provoked the lads into giving Leicester a good battering

Then to top it all Wendy got relegated even though the arrogant bastards were far too good to go down.

Priceless

Leicester for me too, the only disappointment for me that day was the bitter taste of Leeds scum winning title.
This one though seems to have been one to savor over the whole season.

Except for August

5 May 1990 will take some beating, and is numero uno for me. The '82 title will always be a good 'un, after watching the Blades for all of six seasons, three of them relegations, the Fourth Division promotion and title was brilliant, although I did all the home games and about 10 away I missed Darlo away so that is always a bit of a regret. The '84 and '89 promotions always seem to be overshadowed by '82 and '90, and as for '06 Colin made sure that promotion was only for those who backed mein Fuhrer. For me I'd have this season's promotion in the top 3 :) vastly enjoyable and it felt as though we got our club back ... thank you Chrissy Wilder!

Leicester by a mile ,but that season Porter field took us up when hull had to beat Burnley 3.0 to pip us and only managed 2 great night that listening with me mates on the radio.

So hard to pick between Leicester and Darlington but for me the things that happened at the Feethams which wouldn't be allowed to happen now made it stand out. Possibly because we were playing for the champions rather than promotion meant it was more relaxed.
Leicester was more nail biting but that 20-25 minute period in the first half was like nothing else. For those that weren't there, imagine those last few minutes at Northampton when Fleck scored happening 4 times in 20 minutes!! The pigs plunging when nobody expected Luton to win was just the cherry on top of the icing

Thought that I enjoyed the day on Saturday nearly as much as I enjoyed the promotion game v Leicester back in May 90. I suppose I liked the 90 promotion more as I was there in Filbert Street (was in the back garden Saturday with the sun and ale and the young uns) and importantly, the Pigs got relegated too. You really can't better the that day back in 90.

I have tried to enjoy this season and I have in parts cos the results have been excellent and I love Wilder, but I have to say years of being kicked in the bollox by Utd meant that it was an equal measure of happyness and sheer relief when we crossed the line and got promoted.

I didn't expect owt back in 90 and it was all a fantastic bonus. With this promotion in was convinced we would somehow balls it up until probably the win away at Oxford and so I was just waiting for the kick in the bollox again. I was like a rescued dog from the RSPCA who has taken a lot of time to trust Utd this season.

Have to say though I was very very very happy on Saturday and it did have shades of 90 with the glorious sunshine and fantastic Blades day we had. Want the title now but the big one is already in the bag.

Love it !!!

Promotion to the top division should always be the most celebrated,i'm old enough and ugly enough to have seen several promotions since I started going in 1958,but overall the best without doubt was the 1970/71 season. We had a great team and manager and after promotion took the top division by storm, they really were the best of days !! The Bassett and Warnock promotions to the top division were great achievements and the day at Leicester was wonderful and emotionally this is still the best. The Darlington experience was surreal, there was no buying tickets beforehand, you just decided to go,and along with 10k other blades, this sort of away trip will never be repeated,it really was another great day. This seasons promotion, even though it is only from the 3rd tier is very special, because this time last year we were on our knees,we were down and out !! The new life that has been injected into the club and it's fans is remarkable and if Chris Wilder is here long enough to take us into the top division it will eclipse all the other achievements that have gone before.......lets hope he does.

Except for August

Well August was a little disheartening but I knew back then that it was early days and knew he had time to pull it around as he did.
Think my lad was more down and fed up at that time than me.
I know its ok to say this now but at the time I cant say I was disappointed with the appointment of Wilder as you could see a glimpse of what was coming in those first few games.
In fact the only games this season I can't get my head around is the Walsall games.

We played well in the home game and totally dominated. They rarely got in our half and scored from a long punt down the middle. We had a few goals disallowed then missed a last minute penalty.

0-1 defeat was a totally freak result.

For me this promotion is definitely up there and in many ways IS THE BEST.

It's been the most calm I've been at matches ever because I know we ALWAYS put in a performance, the players attitude is fantastic. Even when we go a goal behind no one worries because they know we'll equalise.

This is the worse period in our entire history and getting promoted was becoming more and more urgent.

Last season after the Scunnie game is one of the lowest I've ever felt as a Blade. Adkins had to go but the atmosphere within the club was terrible. Wilder had performed a miracle and gave us our club back. The spirit amongst players and fans has never been this good.

However this promotion brings up overwhelming RELIEF more than joy.

And finally, the football has been a joy to watch, our midfield is class at this level and we look so much better than the opposition, think back to our 2 recent big matches against our 2 main rivals Scunthorpe and Bolton. It's hard to believe we outclassed Scunthorpe the whole match and we outclassed Bolton in the 2nd half.
We are far better than our nearest rivals and I've never seen that before.

I was concerned for Wilder
I wasn't concerned for the team, the club or the boardroom. I'd gone beyond that

This time last year the club was in an awful state and McCabe turning to a fan made me a little wary

Wilder would have crawled over broken glass to take this job regardless of the "perform a miracle or out the door you go" attitude that the club has

I just thought that willingness to do this job above any other regardless of how impossible it was would leave him very little to negotiate with the boardroom, and he would just accept whatever shit they throw at him like all other fans do.

And August/ early September really got me worrying
