Most angry a Blades match has made you

It wasn't intended to be a witty anecdote

Strange that. Most of mine ARE intended to be witty. They just don't turn out that way.

I'm not too keen on destroying the myth of our two lost points just to defend a referee 'for the sake of balance'. Fuck balance. I'm a Blade.

I never said anything about balance and I'm the last to talk on the subject. Balance is for neutrals and I'm with you on the 100% one eyed biased Blade thing.

And 'for the sake of balance' we've seen since that Slippy G does have trouble staying on his feet...

What's much worse was his little rant about foreigners changing our game by diving. Scouse get.

Do I remember hearing a former prem ref on the radio a few months ago, talking about this "rule" and this example ?

If I remember correctly, I think he said that refs have the discretion to award a foul for intent IF the player (well known Premiership superstar, playing for a top six team or West Ham, who the ref happens to be on first name terms with )(not) fouled anticipates the foul (by a player from a less glamorous, also ran, nobody gives a shit about team) and takes evasive action as a result, with the evasive action (a) being the only reason the foul isn't completed, and (b) being to the detriment of the team (not) fouled--i.e., they lose possession, or are denied a goal-scoring opportunity, etc.**

With "discretion" being the key word.

I hope I did hear that, and didn't dream it, because it would be a very sad dream to have had :)

Any refs on here ?

**None of the above, real or not, should be taken as evidence that Rob Styles is anything but a prize twat.

Just looked it up SBB and amended accordingly

Knew this would be a long thread..... and a good one too!

I've already said that most games in FLN's second season made me angry, but that Swindon game was something else.

During the game, immediately after the game and in the aftermath I was furious, but also vindicated in my season long vilification of Clough. We were a total shambles in the game, never in the tie and only scored those 5 goals because Swindon were absolutely soft as shit defensively, as they proved 2 weeks later when Preston thumped them 4-0 in the most one sided play off final I've ever seen.

Clough's stubbornness regarding the centre halves single handedly cost us any chance in that game.

And then comes his interview afterwards saying we've had a good season amongst other garbage.

And then you hear that the players gave Clough a round of applause in the dressing room afterwards.

And then you see fans defending the absolute shambles we witnessed with many wanting Clough to stay.

And it appears inevitable that he will stay.

It was just staggering and infuriating, everything about it. An awful time to support the club.

But then came the consolation, and a massive relief - Clough was sacked. Belatedly, but nevertheless he was gone.

I know Adkins was a disaster but thank fuck we didn't let Clough do any more damage to the club and suck even more of our fans into his trap of dour soul destroying mediocrity.

As I've already said, I would have sacked Clough 15 minutes into that second leg. I wanted to go to the touchline and drag the twat out of the ground with the scruff of his neck.

Slightly impossible as I was listening on Rad Pig, probably just as well.

I've been too conditioned by defeat and failure over 50 years to be devastated by any specific game

I actually left the ground at HT at home to Stoke when we were 3-0 down at HT. Was this when Robson was in charge?

I tried to get the opening scene of this where he throws a house brick at his son but can't find it.

Apologies for this being used again. :)
