Heard a rumour today, tho i guess its what everyone feared/knew but didnt really want to admit it.
Morgs is NOT coming back. the word is every time he trains his knee swells up like a melon and hes close to admitting retirement from playing.

so its collins and maguire until we find someone else to start or as cover,

think if true as soon as window opens then a replacement will be lined up. Weve been waiting on morgs

Doesn't surprise me at all. A serious injury at 33 I something not many came come back from. To be honest, I doubt Wilson has been expecting him back. He offered him the coaching position for this reason (imo). We have more than adequate cover in Ertl, who now looks fit and is more than capable. Let's not forget that Ertl (signed on a free, in demand and under Birch in the Championship) is probably pulling in a hefty salary. As his contract is up and he has taken a wage and offered little, then let's get the most out of him. Perhaps that is why Wilson brought him on (ahead of Monty) against Bornemouth. I'd like to see Ertl featuring more, be it as a squasd player and at RB, CB or CM.

Sounds credible enough, but I'm clinging to the hope that seeing how it's brought to you by the man who brought you "Kyle Naughton", it might be a touch premature...:p

my mate watches the blades with his disabled son behind the plexi glass in the family stand and chris morgans dad told him he wouldnt play again
so what people have heard seams to true.

Knee Swelling like a melon is not necessarily a career threatening issue. From my experience of the same op, the swelling is fluid and it can be managed without additional surgery, I was able to use tablets and laser therapy to reduce the swelling after each physio and training session until i was able to reduce this down. Took some time but eventually my body was abl to manage this itself.

Lets wait and see, but the info we've always had was that the op was successful and his rehab has been slow but he's been able to step it up.

First op i had was followed by 6 months physio before I could run and jump, but the second time (made a right mess of the ligament) I had a year of physio

Some can come back quicker and others get more complications, but as I understand it, as long as the op was a success, everything else can be worked on.

Don't forget the "Ched leaving in June" one, or indeed the gem that was "Mateja Kezman seen at Shirecliffe".

That's why this is in the Rumour Mill too.

rumour US, rumor [ˈruːmə]

a. information, often a mixture of truth and untruth, passed around verbally
b. (in combination) a rumour-monger
2. gossip or hearsay

I never honestly expected him to return and our defence looks tight enough anyway. Would you really drop Collins or Maquire?

Presuming, in the case of the latter, he's still with us at the end of next month.

Morgs quoted as saying "I hope to step up and work harder and do more in January," he told the club's official website.

"I would love to play some part in the run in, make myself available as cover if a player was injured or suspended, then i would be able to come in and play a part.

"My gut feeling is that I will be back before the end of the season, I would love to be able to say to gaffer 'my knee is OK, I have done my training. I am here if you need me, use me."'

tho another article says http://www.realjock.com/article/1251
who would have guessed morgs leads a double life :D

I love this bit

"Chris Morgan.....who describes himself as "a raving queen""

Ertl is not on anything like a hefty salary less than 3 figures pa.

Fucking hell, do you think he wants to borrow a few bob? :D

Of course i know you probably mean 6 figures, but i'd still consider a salary that touches £100k pretty hefty. It's a shame that football is so far out of whack that that kind of salary is not considered a lot for kicking a bag of wind around.

Short career i guess, but i doubt i'll earn 100k at any point in my lifetime.

I did mean 6 figures but in terms of current wages for footballers it could not be considered hefty and certainly not when it's 4/5 times less than Quinn and Monty's salaries.

The best news that I've heard all season. To be fair, apart from the odd hiccup, both Harry M and Neil C have done well for us this year. With Johhny Ertle and Morgs almost available, this could mean that we don't have to shell out money for central defensive cover. It could perhaps be better spent on wide right & midfield positions or perhaps a decent defensive right back to allow Matt Lowson to move further forward.

Fingers crossed.

I have heard thru the rumour grapevine that he is going to officially quit before the start of next season....
A friend(non football fan) of mine is good mates with a friend of his....
Apparently his knee is a bit of a mess....

Won't be much of a surprise though will it?

34 years old, hasn't played in over 18 months having suffered a serious knee injury...no surprise there at all. I think the emergence of Harry Maguire probably made his mind up; even if he did get back to full fitness he'd be third choice.

If he retires from his playing career, surely the next logical step would be to renegotiate his contract to that of a league one coach, about 1-2k p/w as opposed to his current deal which will be nearer 8k. That'd save enough money to bring in or keep a decent player surely?

Whic is why I predict is retirement is timed "coincidentally" with the end of his playing contract. I'll be pleasantly suprised to be proved wrong.

If he retires through injury I believe the insurance will pay out the last year of his playing contract

In an environment dominated by mamby pamby ponces who prance around, roll on the ground like they have been shot at when another player goes even remotely near them and generally act like c***s on and off the pitch, Chris Morgan will be remembered as a player who, after smashing his knee to bits in around the 20th minute of a football match, successfully (and stupidly) completed the whole 90.

The bloke is carved out of pure granite.

Legend.

However this pans out, I for one will fondly remember Chris' contribution to Sheffield United over a period of relative success for the club, to which he made a significant contribution.

Thanks for the memories.

Always remember his reaction at Wigan in the PL when he was interviewed with a real shiner after McCulloch (?) smacked him, he basically just said these things happen. Did he also get bitten at Forest one season?

Bumpsville as (apparently) Morgs has officially announced his retirement in Malta tonight.

Nothing more to add to my post 2 up from here.

Legend.

top lad , a great servant to sufc but this is no surprise really as hes been out a long time. wish him all the best for the future.
