So another drain on resources whilst people loose their jobs. :(

The only part of the story which isn't plain unfortunate is the strong likelihood that Birch handed him an inflated contract in the first place. Along with Quinn, Monty and Cresswell.

I don't begrudge Morgan his pay. I begrudged Birch his.

I begrudge his pay if he knows he won't play again. He's essentially the best paid novice third division coach ever. Just like Speed was probably the best paid novice championship coach before him when I think everyone knew he was never going to play again.

I begrudge all of them their pay. I can't blam 'em for taking it, but as it's 4x their worth I really begrudge it.

If Morgan can't play he will get his wages through insurance. I don't get why this hasn't happened yet.

I actually expect him to be the next manager after Wilson

People shouldn't presume or assume the worst (I know it's easier to do that if nothing is said). Patience and you shall find out.

Harry has the number 5 for a reason.

Morgan will announce his retirement shortly.

Just wish Monty would announce his now.

i cant believe people are begrudging someone who's served the club so well and been a great signing for us the money we agreed to pay him. he's a novice coach with a reputation at only one club. if things go wrong for him at united, he'll be on the dole with his career over. at 40.

he deserves that last contract, unlike many of the others at BDTBL.

Whilst I like Chris Morgan there are a couple of things in that post that I can't really agree with.

1) He was given a ridiculous contract extension (for his age) and is now draining the club of much needed resource wage wise. I begrudge the idea that we can't sign new players because of certain current ones being paid over the odds for their contribution to the cause.
2) His football career maybe over at 40 but I'll wager he has earned more than most on here will do even if we have to work until we are 70.

Morgan has not played since 30 October 2010. Whilst it isn't his fault he's not fit, I bet that we've paid more to him in that time than, say, we've got up front for Lowton.

When was the last time we didn't have someone on the books who was out for months on end with an injury?

What were the terms of that contract? If it was £100,000 per week, would he deserve it? Afterall, he's a top bloke who's stuck with us. Why not £200,000 per week?

Nobody can fault him for taking the money, but we'rer in the state we're in because we've paid his like far in advance of what they're worth.

29 October 2010?

Correction: presumably before Hendo's last injury.

If he can't play, take the insurance will pay out. what is the fucking problem with it.

I've been wondering that for something approaching two years and I can think of no other explaination that we've done an "Ebbrell" again. Hasn't played, can't play, won't play, what possible reason can an insurance company give for not paying out?

It's been driving me mad since he was made coach in the 1st place. Also, I thought Danny said that he was retiring earlier in the summer. When are we going to get someone in who knows what they are doing

Whatever we're paying Morgs, its worth it for the service he has given the club.

He's been injured for almost the last two years and knowing the character of the man I am absolutely 100% certain that he will have been doing EVERYTHING to play again. I find threads like this extremely sad and it shows the lack of respect that people have for players like Morgan.

We would not be in this division had Morgan not been injured.

We lost a Centre half, but more than that we lost our inspirational Captain that would and did run through brick walls for the club.

Having a cheap dig at him, the club and those that rated him highly enough to give him an extended contract is very low

Not having a go at him, however he has been told he will never play again and it's now been 2 years. For the sake of his knee he should stop trying and take the payout for the good of us all. It's heartbreaking watching our club fall apart as it is.

Has he been told that? I've certainly never heard that and would be interested to know where and when it was reported. I've certainly seen quotes from him that imply he intends to play although I do have my doubts.

Fair play sheffielder Too many people having a go at every aspect of our club at the moment and this for me was a step too far.

If Morgan had been told by medical experts that he can't play again (like Geary was) then fair enough, but he clearly has been.

After my 2nd Cruciate reconstruction, my surgeon asked what I wanted to do (sport and activity wise) - I said football and perhaps be able to ski. He said ok, lets do that then. The point being that a cruciate repair alone is no longer a reason to quit. My Cruciate is approx 95% as strong as it ever was, but you can't account for how your body reacts as you step up the training.

I had over 12 Months of physio before I was up to running again during this time I had set backs with swelling on the knee too. Its not as straight forward as Operation followed by 6 months of physio and rebuilding. Complications can come at anytime, some can be overcome, some take longer.

To scratch him off the playing payroll would be just wrong. He will be insured and the club will no doubt recoup some of the costs & wages, but i'm sure everyone would rather have him try to get back.

1. What we paid whilst he was playing was worth it, what we've paid him for the last two years obviously isn't.

2. We ARE in this division (and for what it's worth I too think we wouldn't be if he'd stayed fit) and we can't afford to pay ANYMORE.

3. I love Chris Morgan BUT I would rather we didn't have to sell Lowton (or Maguire) to fund his wages now he can't contribute.

If we were Chelsea (fuck it, if we were simply viable) I would have no problem with him earning anything we were paying but he (or Monty, or Cresswell) isn't going to get us out of this division and we need to be spending our money on people who can and will.

I don't think anyone (obviously I can't speak for everyone yada yada) doesn't respect the man or his efforts on our behalf. It's the sad consequence of other peoples lack of vision and plain incompetance that sees us in this position and Chris Morgan is as innocent as those who are about to lose their jobs in the offices but that's what we have become.

Danny said he was retiring a month ago for a start off

100% agree, but.....

Whatever we're paying Morgs, its worth it for the service he has given the club.

.....is in all honesty, the mentality that has brought us to the position we're in.

Exactly - instead we had NOSWORTHY (shudders)
