Morgan Gibbs White is the best player I’ve ever seen wearing a United shirt.

I think what impresses me the most about him is how he’s taken to this role, where he’s playing like a number 10. He spends as much time pushed right up against the centre half as he does dropping deep and going wide, and he is rarely out strengthed or bullied by these ‘big strapping’ championship centre halves. And he knows where to be in the box to get opportunities.

I think he can pick any position and play in it at the top level, he’s that good.

Deane, before he got glandular fever, was bloody ridiculous. Fast, strong, awkward to tackle, great in the air, intelligent and great crosser too... genuinely unplayable.

I don't go back as far as Woodward and Currie, but Hodges would have to be up there for me. And more recently (not that bloody recently) Borbokis. I'd agree in terms of sheer quality but only for a handful of games, Paul McGrath and Gordon Cowans. Jags too.

MGW though, is class. Great ability although aye, the flicks can drive you up the wall....but he's using it all more effectively and the partnership with Billy is something else. Hell of a showreel so far with some unbelievable goals too.

I don't think he's near the best to pull on a Blades shirt yet. But when you think of some of the goals we've seen in recent weeks, and moments like MGW's goal today, and Berge's flick round the corner first half to set Osborn free, and his crossfield ping straight to feet against Blackburn, we're watching some bloody class moments far too good for the Championship. We'd get about 4 points all season if we went up but let's just enjoy it !

I'm not sure Deane was that great in the air, Bassett was always going on about he wasn't aggressive enough, had great skill for a big man.

You get some good players that never settle, others that just do ok, and then every so often you get one that fit like a glove,
Players like Currie O'Connell, Brown , and IMO, he's could well become one of those,
He could be a big part of the puzzle for us and I just hope they can find a way to hold on to him because he's a player they could really build a team around ... ... 🤞

He's too inconsistent at the moment. Unplayable on his day, fairly awful off it. He will be a great player though.

Unsure why you got some 🤣 and 😲 responses there. You're absolutely spot on.

If he put in performances like that week-in-week-out, he wouldn't be playing on loan in the Championship.

Last night MG-W was a joy to watch. He got in everywhere and helped us rip Middlesbrough apart.

Pointless arguing which Blades hero is best, different types of players, different eras. Let's just applaud a young player having a fantastic game and enjoy watching that goal again.

He'd be at Barcelona!

i saying last night. feel for Baldock, as he mustve thought that goal of the season award, was in the bag & then MGW did that for 4-1

although can you imagine in September, when MGW scored v Peterborough. that wouldnt even be in the top 3 goals this season

Throw in Billy's v West Brom, MGW v Swansea, I can't really remember a few weeks like it for absolute worldies (maybe just Mike Lake and Kevin Gage's little fluke purple patches)

He's one of the best we've had in a very long time and is someone we should break the bank for if we go up. Wolves are doing fine without him, its a case of whether they think they could do even better with him in the team and who would miss out to accommodate him.

One of our few recent recruitment masterstrokes among all the rubbish we've had. I hope Rhian Brewster is watching plenty of MGW videos because he'll need to pick up the mantle if we don't go up.

MGW would have been fined a year's wages under a previous regime for shooting outside the box and for some of the flicks he was doing last night. He's the sort of player we've been crying out for since Duffy left, difference being that I don't think MGW's career will hit the sort of low ebbs that Duffy's did.

Once he gets a regular gig somewhere in the PL (assuming he keeps this level of performance up), there's an England shirt waiting for him at some point, hopefully with us but I wouldn't bank on it.

reminds me alot of what we thought when Norwood came. how good is that wolves midfield that MGW wasnt needed

Paul McGrath was fantastic. For a player that barely had use of his legs by the time he played for us.

Mel Rees, for the games he played, was wonderful.

Its all in the context.

But MGW is pretty fucking good.

For us to sign MGW permanently we'd need (a) to get promoted this season, (b) MGW to insist on the move (to us).

Unfortunately, as much as he's doing well here and enjoying playing for us... It's very rare that a bigger offer (stage or salary) gets turned down.

Wolves might be in Europe and he'd be a squad player at least. Or someone like Arsenal might try and sign him to compliment their talented young squad building exercise.

Pray for MGW, could be a club legend if he stays a few years (theoretically IF we got promoted). Time is on your side son!

I’ve been thinking this for a while now so this certainly isn’t a knee jerk from tonight’s performance.

The thought crossed my mind and I laughed it off and then couldn’t remember a better player? I’ve been watching since about 95/96 so I’ve not got the luxury of the Currie years or even really Whitehouse in his prime.

Before you laugh it off, if this is as outlandish as it seems, you’ll be able to name 5 better easily.

Noteable mentions to:

  • Jags when we went up or at CM in the promotion year
  • Gary speed running our midfield
  • Beattie (James)

I think we’re insanely lucky to have him. If he leaves Wolves in the summer it’s for 30 million plus I’d say when you consider his versatility and age and experience for his age. We’ve never owned a player like that in my lifetime.
Just a few here;_

James Hagan,
Joe Shaw
Tony Currie
Alex Sabella
Keith Edwards
Brian Deane.

In my time supporting United, the best players have been:

Dean Henderson, Kyle Walker, Kyle Naughton, Phil Jagielka, Gary Cahill, Jack O'Connell, Michael Brown, Michael Tonge, Morgan Gibbs-White, Sander Berge, David McGoldrick, James Beattie, Rob Hulse, Billy Sharp.

I'm sure I've probably missed a few... but out of all of them, I'd say Henderson, Walker, Naughton, Jagielka, O'Connell and Gibbs-White have struck me as being a real cut above everybody else on the field and with the potential to go right to the very top of the game (England honours, top 6 side).

I enjoy watching an on-song Gibbs-White more than any other player in memory.
He's definitely in the conversation, for me.
