In June (I think?) about a dozen of us from the forum went to support the Northwich Victoria Supporters Trust by drinking a lot of decent ale (and cider) at the Beer Festival they organised to raise funds for thier club. The day raised over £2000 for the Vics and us Blades were well recieved - being given a tour of the ground and being introduced to the Chairman etc.

I've just recieved a PM from the main man behind the beer festival - Pez - who has invited our forum to the next festival which will once again be held at Victoria Stadium, on June 25th. The organisers are keeping ticket prices down at the same cost of £5.00, but once again tickets will be limited to around 200.

And once again - (to date) we are the only other forum to be invited over. I think me and HH will be up for it again. Anyone else interested?

Also - at the last festy (once the ale was in and the senses out!) an idea for an inter forum footy game was suggested, which one of the Vics lads has begun to look into. Any interest from our side? Would need to know if we're talking 5, 7 or 11 a side and whether we'd prefer to play in Sheff, Northwich or somewhere in the middle. (We'd sort dates later)

Looks like I've been voted in already! It should be a bit smoother this time, as we know a bit more about what we're doing. We must go to ANDERTON though!

We need to source shit loads of United gnomes :D

Aye, count me in for the ale but I'll be an enthusiastic spectator of the football :D

You got a PM :)

Yeah, basically, the game is definately a go-er. It'll take some organising, so everyone interested please make yourself known to me. We don't expect superstars by any stretch, (though if we have any in the midsts it wouldn't go a miss :D, I'm thinking you, reading ex-blades players :D) but we do need reliable people and want to play for the right reasons.

What are the transport plans? Train? mini-bus?

Far too early for us to that organised JB!! Last time it was a couple of cars and my Yamaha. Sure we'll get it sorted out better this year (yeah - right!!)

Same question as last time tho - do we want to offer a Blades keg? It was my fault for not chasing Spire Brewery up last time, and I promise to try harder this year if we want to do this!!

Foxy - sent your PM on to Ash - the main man with the Vics forum footy side. Suggestion at moment is that we try to hold it our side of the Pennines and link it to their fixture list. This season they play Worksop Town, Retford Town, Stocksbridge PS, Matlock and Buxton - so they're over our way quite a lot.

Where's that Gnome ended up? - And can we get any more??

I'm definitely up for this again. I wonder if we'll get the same taxi driver?:D

I'm also interested in the footy match. But if they already play - I can see us getting beat comfortably:p

Thinking ahead re. tickets.

I think it would be worth saying this year that tickets will only be reserved when the money has been passed to either myself or Sheepdip (I'm happy to do the collecting). We had a few people ask for tickets and in the end, they went to waste. If the event is another sell-out, I'm sure the Vics fans would appreciate us not taking tickets we don't end up using to ensure they can fill to capacity and raise more money for the club :)

Bloody hell there's nowt like being optimistic is there. Not even announced a team and you're throwing the towel in.

Have you seen this Dunc?

Aye, but you haven't seen them play :D

PM from Pez this morning. Tickets will be limited to 300 this year and they are getting them sorted out at the moment. Pez will let us know when they become available. Not heard back re the footy yet.

I'd be interested in this, although planning so far in the future is not really me ;)

Missed that bit first time I read your post Foxy. For me that bit's really important. Vics came across as a nice bunch of real footy fans - I suppose being relegated to Northern Premier League cos your old chairman bankrupted you, is going to test your faith. Whilst it'd be good to have a competitive game, this day can't be about ego and macho posing. It'd be nice to have a few jars after the game and to have people going home wanting to repeat the event, rather than heading home thinking were a right bunch of tossers.
