All those of you that think Monty is always terrible, all those who jeer and boo him before he's even kicked a ball, and don't believe in giving him any chance whatsoever, post your thoughts here.

That way the rest of us won't have to trawl through it all the time.

In all fairness, I was at the match on Saturday and didn't hear anyone 'jeering and booing' Monty, so I doubt very much that he did either.

I think that he gets made a scapegoat, but I also think that he wasn't very good on Saturday. I don't think that's his fault, mind you - I think he's a good understudy to Speed, but having two defensively-minded central midfielders on the pitch both limited our chances at surging forward, and made the entire midfield (and indeed the forwards) look crap.

In the first half when he had time almost all his passes went to a nearby Blade, Speed missed more passes. My problem with Monty is that under pressure he plays like Morgan (hits it first time) rather than bringing it down and turning away from his man. He's the best player we've got if we want to mark one of the opposition out of the game but not a threat going forward.

I definitley did hear jeering at the game, but it was a very small minority

Agree with you about playing two defensive midfielders, that wasnt going to work and it made as you said our midfield look poor!

But also agree with the above comment that when under pressure he seems to punt the ball anywhere and thats when people tend to get on his back

I'm not saying that nobody did - but there's little chance that he heard it all the way over on the pitch if I didn't sat at the front of the upper tier. I would rather hope that players concentrate on the match too much to pick out individual comments from fans, anyway.

Can't see him having heard owt on Saturday like you say. I'd imagine the level of abuse he receives would play on his mind though. People singing about you having the touch of a rapist after just scoring a volley from outside the box, can't be that encouraging.

However much they concentrate on the game, it can't help being subject to the stuff some of them get.

That's very true, especially as I was particularly watching Monty's passing. Granted, there were no forty yard defence splitting passes, but that's not entirely his job!

I thought Monty played pretty well on Saturday actually, and was one of the brighter points in a woeful performance.

My thought's too.

The first thing a Sheffield United fan at work said to me today was "Montgomery was f'in shit!"

He just doesn't like the guy and slags him off at every opportunity. I had to tell him to go away before I got angry.

Allthought he didn't have a great game, I thought he was far from shit

1 of 3 players who I thought could have come out of the game with something.
