Newcastle must have a set of wonder strikers if they can afford to let Mitrovic go on loan to Fulham. Different class, just like the other 10 tonight. No shame in losing tonight, but the gulf is gonna take some investment to close.

Fulham have under performed at the start of the season. They’ve gone under the radar.

A team that turns down £20m + deals for Sessengon and Cairney shows they have the same if not more money that Wolves.

Fulham have got serious money hence the reason they've been able to turn down any bids for their star players!!. Mitrovic is a classic example of what money can buy you in this division. He fell out with Newcastle because he had an attitude problem and Fulham have reaped the dividends. On his current form Fulham are gonna have to pay Newcastle a huge amount in transfer fees. Fuck em. That's what a £13m, £60k per week striker looks like (Jordan Rhodes take note!). No shame in losing yesterday.

FWIW - Mitrovic's wages would pay half our squad.

Fulham also haven't got huge footballing debts - Cairney cost £3m and Sessegnon came through their youth ranks so it's easier for them to reject bids. They also managed the drop from Premiership to Championship using the parachute payments well by not spunking loads of money on overpriced player - lots of other sides should take note.

What was the ‘controversial’ remark that Wilder almost let slip in his interview in regards to Mitrovic’ transfer? Was it in regards to FFP or something entirely different?

i was surprised they let him go on loan seem to remember him scoring quite a few goals that season they got relegated

Scored more goals in 7 Championship games for Fulham than he did in 25 for Newcastle last season.

... and in Dwight Gayle they already have a striker who scored bucketloads in the championship last season who isn’t able to make an impact in the prem. Think it’s fair to say that the step up for strikers proves too much for most and Mitrovic is among that majority.

am i the only one who thinks jordan rhodes is a good player shockingly managed?
he’d bang them in for us
I've heard he would bang em In for Chesterfield too, but I've watched him play several games this season, and unfortunately I have to disagree with you, he's definitely shit, and £10m worth of shit at that. He ruined himself when he signed for the pork.

I disagree.

I think Mitrovic will do well in the PL for a team that dominates games like Fulhan, rather than relying on counter-attacking like Newcastle.

I think it's been too long since he last looked like a goalscorer (three years or more), for him to be worth risking. He either needs a new manager at Wendy who plays in a more Wilder-esque style, or to drop down a level where a team will be willing to accommodate him properly.

It's a bit like Sharp under Blackwell.

I think he is potentially a very good player and still relatively young. He'd scored 40 in 70 at Anderlecht (admittedly not the highest standard) as a 19/20 yr old, and I was surprised that he didn't go to Germany. He was probably bought by Newcastle for too much, too young, but the market forces this. He looks on the heavy side & there are question marks over his mental side/attitude. His form at fulham, as has been mentioned on here, is in part due to the lower standard, but also the fact that his manager is serb also & both are ex Partizan/Grobari. As you say C2N, he needs to be at a side that dominates games & plays to his strengths, what near enough happened at Anderlecht. He's not the most mobile, and that might hamper his progress, but he's 11 in 33 for Serbia so can do it at a higher level. His first against us was old school poaching & desire, his second was an exquisite finish & the 3rd he nearly had soon after showed lovely technique & awareness.

Great player, also an utter w*nker. There's a reason why he's in the Championship right now.

Think we should be lookin for future strikers with good strike rates in other/lower leagues before they get famous and expensive. Deane and Agana types. If we wait until they're older and more proven they will be out of our price range. Would rather gamble on a few young uns on the way up than oldies on the way down.

I was once told by a forward's coach out here that the most important thing, for a forward, is their trust in the midfield/attacking players. The trust that the ball will be where they want it, as long as they make the correct movement. The movement can be coached, the rest is down to the other players. Truly great strikers create things for themselves in the absence of other player's contributions. Mitrovic is benefitting from having good players putting good balls in. Not seen him, in Holland or Newcastle, create much for himself in difficult situations, a la Ronaldo. I think that Brooks could become a great striker for the reasons above.
