Used to work with a Miss Sheffield United, Noreen, who was married to Ian Knight (of SWFC).

She was a terrific personality, very bright and witty as well as pretty. Even went to the 1993 Blackburn cup game with Noreen and Ian. Much as I detest Wednesday, he was a nice guy and certainly a player who deserves sympathy for his career being ruined by Gary Bennett - his leg was broken in 7 places.

Unfortunately, they divorced and Noreen went to work in Ireland last I heard.

If anyone has the programme with Noreen in as Miss Sheffield United, I'd like to see it. I'm not sure what her maiden name was.

Bring it back.

Noreen Cassidy, UnitedBlade; was 'crowned' Miss Sheffield United towards the end of the 87/88 relegation season. The programme for the Bradford City game on 4/4/88 mentions that Noreen was from S5 and was a member of the Wadsley Bridge branch of the Supporters Club. No photos, though.

Noreen was pictured in the programme for the Huddersfield game the following season, though, carrying Miss SUFC duties alongside Stan the Man...

Sam lived at Coal Aston first house on the left past the garden centre ,often used to go to dos at her house ,they had an outdoor pool. I actually accompanied Sam to the opening of the Revival at Roxys ,only way I could get in ,she soon pied me off when we got inside. Knew her for a few years and ended up going out with a friend of hers for a while. Sam certainly wasn't the type of girl insinuated ,she was great fun and her family were proper Blades.

I didn't know her in the eighties, but I know her now. She worked in the cruise ship industry and met her husband, who's Italian, they have two sons and live near Hull. Her Mum sadly died but her Dad also now lives in the same area.
I can honestly say, both Sam and her family really are the nicest people you could ever hope to meet and I'm forwarding that colour photo of her, to her eldest son, as I type ;)

I always remember how The Stir did a front page story circa 1984 about how Simon Stainrod's wife, an ex Miss Sheffield United, had changed her allegiance to Wendy, "the better club" following Stainrod signing for them.

Yep, that's Nozza. She was of Irish descent and also a former Rose of Tralee.

Top lass and Blade.

I happen to have come across a few old programmes (mid-80s) and in the programme from 7th March 1987 v Barnsley at home on page 5 is a picture of 'Samantha Sears - the current Miss Sheffield United'. I'd post a picture but don't know how. Anyhow, the pic is black and white but I'm assuming she has blonde hair, kinda curly with, again I'm assuming, a Blades shirt draped on her shoulder.

My question is, has anyone banged her?

No, seriously, whatever happened to this? In this day and age of snowflake society it would be shot down instantly!! But how long did this go on for?
It was the subject of an article in flashing blade about 4 yrs sin.
Email [email protected] and he will sort the article out for you. ⚽ ⚽.
Dave Bassett in the episode of the BBC series United, named the manager, is present at the ceremony where the miss SUFC is presented. He judged it in fact. 1990

Went on until mid 90's, if the snowflake society heard one of Harry Bassetts stories on a player of the year awards night he'd be all over the front of the local paper calling for his resignation.
You mean his comments about the ref at Barnsley being a wanker etc?

Sam became the 22nd Miss Sheffield United in 1986, any chance of a photo for the first Miss Sheffield United in 1965?

I fancy that that could be a bridge too far, Silent.

The 1969/70 season was the season that the programme starting carrying photos on a regular basis. The earliest Miss SUFC photo that I can find is from 72/73 season. Miss Pam Wood, as presented in the Lane Line Up for the League Cup 4th round tie with Arsenal on 31/10/72...

Recall Harry's exchange with the pompous Harrow School Headmaster as the teams left the pitch after the 0-0 draw in the first replay at Oakwell.

DB: "Have I got permission to come and speak to you in 5 minutes?"
DE: "No."
DB: "Thank you very much."

I was a member of the Wadsley Bridge supporters club as documented here when I was mascot v Bristol City November 88 win 3-0

I was also mascot v Bristol City the previous year when we went down

There was something about "Miss Sheffield United" in a programme from last season. Will try and find it. It was either in "folklore and fables", or the bit that looks at programmes from past seasons. My memories fucked.
