Always a frisson of fear when you say those words. New Den isn't like the Old Den but still it isn't exactly pleasant either. Was at the Old Den once. I think Steve Neville made his debut for us and scored a hatrick. We won 4-1 and pretty sure we were 3 up at half time. It was rough.

But lately away tickets haven't been making general sale. They've usually sold out beforehand. QPR for instance sold out before general sale until they released an extra batch but we still have Millwall tickets available. They went on general sale today. I wonder is it because it's Millwall?

I had to wait for the 5k loyalty points mark in order to sit with a mate of mine, and was expecting to miss out as a result and have to sit in the home end. I’m amazed it’s gone to general sale – as you say, probably influenced by the opposition. I’ve only been once before – the 1-0 win where Andy Reid grabbed the goal under Gary Speed.

If you're travelling by coach, Millwall is actually a very enjoyable and comfortable away day.

Stop off in Greenwich for refreshments, get taken straight to the away end with no contact with the rogue elements, bit of verbal back and forth in the ground with the natives and hop straight on the bus when you come out.
Personally I can't bloody wait until Saturday.

If they've been slow to sell then I imagine that London prices and the fixture being close to Xmas are a factor.

My experience was made miserable by the PoPo moreso than the locals. As Tyler said, by coach is fine, but coming via public transport is a fucking nightmare.

Everyone's just gearing up for Preston, probably. That's the biggie for me!

I've been to Millwall numerous times and never seen any trouble. It's actually one of my favourite away days to be fair.

I did get an interesting taste of how differently you're treated as a football fan last time though. Me and my better half were on the train out after the game and a policeman offered us a seat on the absolutely rammed train. He was then laughing about how we must hate having to get the same train as all the thuggish football fans...

Not at all mate. I'm mainly going because it's London on a weekend and there aren't many this season, plus Brentford will be a bastard to get a ticket for.
But the huge allocation for Preston and a very attractive Christmas fixture at Villa means that Millwall away understandably falls by the wayside for many.

The only nightmare was a couple of seasons ago we were kept outside the ground for an hour before we were let on to the platform to get the train into London and that is the main reason Im not going this season

That was what I meant by 'nightmare'. I was there that day n'all. Completely bonkers attitude to policing and tensions amongst fans rose considerably by penning us in. Not nice.

I was there as well. Season after they let us straight out not a problem. Wall were on the same trains, had a good laugh with them. I'm on the train again this time straight to Borough market shouldn't be any problems. If you act like a twat no doubt as with anywhere you will attract trouble as per Birmingham did this season. You might have had trouble years ago, but it's not the same. so just go, have a drink, don't act up and enjoy yourself

I think that's true. I had to walk past a sea of pissed off Sunderland fans to get back to the coaches earlier in the season. I just kept my head down and didn't make an exhibition. No trouble at all.
Same at Boro when it was kicking off, just avoided the flashpoints and that was that.

In fact the nearest I've got to any first hand trouble was the past two trips to Port Vale, when the local scrotes were throwing every object they could find at us outside the ground. Luckily they're all scrawny heroin addicts so they couldn't throw very far.

Been to the New Den loads of times, always train from London Bridge to South Bermondsey/Beirut. Only one dodgy visit, before they built the link from the away end to the station. We had a full police escort with horses front and rear and riot police down the sides who kept chasing the scrotes back down the back streets. Police were fine and just said it’s like that every weekend, football or no football.

It's real shame, Millwall can be very nasty if you're looking for trouble but if you're sensible it's fine. I've been several times since moving down here and only once seen trouble, when we beat them 4-0 under Warnock and some of our idiots wound them up at London Bridge; completely our doing. That night was made worse by Brighton playing at Palace, so more Millwall were on the prowl at the station than normal. It's a cracking view from the away end and I'm looking forward to it especially as we've nothing to fear on the pitch. My big beef is the negative press the result of which both my younger sons (6 & 10) are worried about going so they're not; just me and my eldest (17). As I say never trouble trouble, until trouble troubles you, you're ok at millwall, but if you're daft you deserve what you get. There are lots of away grounds I fear more that's for sure where they do pick on the innocents not wanting a scrap. I work with a Millwall season ticket holder and he says it's nowhere near as bad as it was 20 years ago, the true hard men have moved on.

Absolutely; which is another pain for 'normal' Millwall fans but as ever it's easier for the media and authorities to make generalisations and sweeping judgements than deal in facts. My mate went to Fulham on Saturday and as many clubs do, hired the boat up the thames with a load of millwall; according to the owners they were better behaved than many including a small blue and white striped team from South Barnsley who acted like big time dickheads a few weeks ago.

First time for Millwall for me and first London away day, looking forward to it. Don't feel in the slightest bit concerned about trouble to be honest, going down on the coach so there should be no bother. I thought going on the train to our game with Leeds would have the greater propensity for trouble. If we don't go up and West Ham come down (or vice versa), I would be more concerned about encountering trouble making the necessary visit to the White Elephant Stadium.
