But then who replaces him? Hamer can't drop into his role, which means either another signing or a formation change
TBH, I think Hamer will be gone this window. If he keeps scoring someone will come in late

Would take stupid money, and I'd like to think the new owners wouldn't sanction anything that dumb this early

I follow Celtic as well as the Blades- he came on on Sunday and had a few shots, he’s been in and around the first team for the preseason friendlies and cup games but obviously Rodgers wants to move him on. I think he’s a great option for the Championship
Is he someone that you think could step up to the PL too? He seems like he's got very good close control?

were shaping up for a bielsa style 4141 imo arblaster as the sitter with rak-saki o'hare hamer johnston as the 4 and moore up top
And Wilder's got no record of success with a team of that sort of composition

When have we ever carried multiple luxury players who'll contribute little defensively? In Wilder's best teams even all the attacking players worked hard and made us a solid unit

No. I don’t ask for info though, I just wait for a message. It has gone quieter the last few days. Contact doesn’t want to get new ownership management layer off side. I expect my info will dry up tbh. Maybe if new owners are ok with non-critical leaks, like current ownership, I might hear stuff in JTW. Let’s see.

A few good months doesn't prove much when you're 25 and not wanted by an SPL team.
Celtic and Rangers are different gravy to the rest of the league though. He's played 60 times for Celtic so it's not like he's never played for them.

As a realistic signing I doubt there's many better we could get in for his position. Fits well in the new formation.

Any Scottish based blades out there who can elaborate on why Johnston hasn't become a regular of late at Celtic? He seems a wasted talent up there.
Celtic mates tell me they’re not that fussed about him. To be fair, they absolutely pissed themselves when I asked them if Oli Burke was any good so they are decent judges.

We've gone from the "I don't have wingers" Wilder to now signing JRS & interest in Johnston.
It's quite a change and is making our recruitment hard to follow.
I wonder if Wilder is trying to give himself the option of playing with or without wingers , especially as Burrows is supposedly better at attacking than defending.

Re Oli Burke you could be blind deaf and dumb to form a very quick opinion he isn’t very good

But they would probably consider Anthony Stokes to be a decent player by way of balancing that argument....

My worry is where does he fit? 4-5-1 means we're dropping one of Hamer, Arblaster or Souza (and considering Hamer has been down the left you'd assume it's him), or are we going 3-5-1-1? With a midfield 5 of Johnston, Hamer, Souza, Arblaster, JRS wirh O'Hare just behind Moore?

We need a deeper squad with competition for places, so he doesn't necessarily come straight in but should get plenty of game time.

Assume it is Brooks, O'Hare and Hamer behind the striker on current form, that means we have Rak-Sakyi and Johnstone snapping at their heels, as well as Campbell if he isn't covering for Moore and there are Marsh & Hampson the mix too. That will do nicely.

As you say, Hamer is versatile enough to drop into CM if needed, as is Brooks. So add in injuries, plus the two fixtures a week periods, I doubt there will be a shortage of opportunities for any of the above.

Ask them about Oliver Teribbley- then you’ll really get a laugh

Trusty has a higher market value so surely wouldn’t straight swap. We’d probably shake hands on £3M plus Johnstone for Trusty

We're shaping up to have too many attackers and not enough structure. Does that suit Wilder?

Not sure we have too many attackers?

RAM - Brooks/Rak-Sakyi
CAM - O'Hare
LAM - Hamer/Johnston(?)

Then we have Campbell and Brewster who can cover the above positions, but will also be covering as ST. Plus the young lads Marsh and Hampson, one of whom could be loaned out.

That seems like good depth for a long season, but if you combine this with available STs, you could even say we are a bit short in attack.

Solid argument that tbh, I just thought if we're parting off Trusty it would be for a starter
