His name sends a shudder down most blades fans. Killa sending off and his performance at Wembley, I'm sure there are more?

Piggy Pearson summed him up well today when asked by reporter if he'd be speaking to dean, he said no point he's one of the most arrogant men I've ever met.

Echoed up and down the country by many fans !!

Mike Dean is a full weight twat and must be in the designated thread, must be!

Having thought about the twats thread, I came to the conclusion that all twats are not equal and that for the twats considered to be twats by other twats, there should be a Premier Twats League As its first member I nominate Mike Dean, truly a twat among twats.

so have you started this new thread yet ?

Detested Dean after the Killa thing but he has improved over time to become one of the better premier refs. I would say the same thing about young Oliver who I thought was a right tool, but his displays recently have been good in particular his recent performance at Old Trafford Man U v Arsenal. I must be mellowing a bit.

Does anyone else remember Mike Dean doing his warm-ups at Wembley, in front of the Blades fans? A few gave him some stick and he responded with a 'yawning' motion. I couldn't possibly say this influenced his decision to wave away an early penalty shout and send two players off.

Since then, he reffed the Rotherham home game last season and was the biggest homer in years. Sent Steve Evans into apoplexy. He was OK in the Spurs semi final as well.

Garth Crooks having a really good rant saying what most of us think about Mike Dean:

I don't watch many games on BT Sport but I watched the Chelsea v Arsenal game today and it was a nice twist to see that they have Howard Webb working as an expert pundit giving his verdict on the performance of the referee. Anyway he didn't hold back today in saying that Mike Dean got it wrong on many occasions.

Firstly Webb stated the obvious that we all saw who watched the game, Hazard was wrestled to the ground and it was a clear penalty that Dean should have awarded. For Arsenal's first red card Costa committed three separate offences that all warranted a red card and he shouldn't have been on the pitch at the point that Gabrielle was sent off however the Arsenal player was a bit stupid. But these were just a couple of the big decisions that the so called top flight referee got wrong.

A terrible performance by a ref that we all know is complete and utter shite!

Look for the word Cunt in the dictionary and you'll find a picture of Mike Dean amongst others.

Berk is putting it mildly BM. We're talking about a Stokie who had elocution lessons for reasons only he could explain. Money wasted judging by his accent on that clip :)
If I had a full on Stoke accent I'd consider elocution lessons too.

I didn't think he judged the Gabriel v Costa incidents at all.

He gave in to the verbal onslaught from delightful Diego and assorted teammates and was persuaded to send the Arsenal player off by them. I don't believe he saw an infringement of any seriousness, he was complaisant in the face of abuse.

Costa should have walked for arguing with him so vehemently.

Dean is clearly a coward who has become intimidated by Mourinho.

Mike dean is the worst ref ever ,seems to pick a winner before kick off and stick with them

We all know intimidation by managers plays a roll . Manchester United now Chelsea. . Brings disruption on the field of play and the terraces . Roll on the premiership .

Mike Dean can cost a team points and a manager his job. The guy does not use a ounce of common sense.

Costa is very aggresive , but i wish we had at least 50% of his agression spread through the blades team , especially in league 1.

UTB

I thought it was a yellow if you start egging on the ref to caution another player by waving an imaginary card about. Sick of seeing that on the field of play.

But for me Kenilworth the more sickening aspect is the incessant cheating, diving and general crying wolf.

When Danny Murphy was discussing the bit where Gabriel backed into Costa, he said that Gabriel "kicked-out" and that that was 'unforgivable' or some nonsense. Now, I didn't watch the game live, so Murphy is at an advantage over me BUT I didn't see ANY 'kicking-out' on Gabriel's part, he may have trodden on Costa's toes NOTHING more than that.

But the trouble is, that Murphy is imbued in the 'culture' of professional football and therefore is apt to see some foul that may have not existed. Far too many 'fouls' as analysed on TV involve NO physical contact whatsoever. Kun Aguero the Manchester City player went over a week ago and injured his knee. Widely seen as a foul, I'm of the opinion that his injury was caused by his landing on the pitch NOT by a miss timed tackle, was there ANY physical contact at all?

I don't know, may be a 'hot-spot' detector like they use in cricket may work (after the game, not concurrent) , then again, it probably wouldn't? Super slo-mo doesn't work IMO.

Trouble is, the refs have become sucked into believing the fakery too - the main culprit, Colina the old Italian has made football as laughable and thespian as the wrestling used to be on ITV on a saturday afternoon......

......and I bet if you asked Dean which referee he looked up to most when he was starting he'd say Colina....but Colina believed all the diving and the crap that is spoiling the game now.

As Rugby Union fans delight in telling us, Football is becoming a joke.

I did wonder if the Americans might save us from all this.

Afaict they view the diving and cheating with ridicule and contempt and it's sometimes cited as a reason the game is/was slow taking off over there.

Then a couoke of weeks ago I saw Lampard rolling around pathetically. It looks like the disease has spread across the Atlantic.

I agree with most of the post Vorps apart from the Aguero bit, he certainly did get volleyed in the side of the knee and was lucky that the injury wasn't worse.

The bottom line of your post is very very true indeed in quite a lot of different aspects, money, cheating, shambolic refereeing from people that don't even understand the game.

I'd add that the refs are just the front line staff. Getting annoyed with them is like shouting at call centre workers, when the real issue is an exploitative corporate.culture.

The administrators could work towards fixing these problems by empowering the referees to take action.

Personally I think there might be a revolution in football when there's a foul *and* embarrassing amateur dramatics that would disgrace a school play, and the referee books *both* players. But can you imagine the uncomprehending outrage if this actually happened?

(Another change I'd like to see is when a player is cautioned the ref stays where he is, the player comes to him, faces him, and waits till he's told he can leave. Current practice is disrespectful, bordering on contemptuous.)

This relates to United bc didn't Bury basically exploit a weak ref, albeit without a central panto villain like Costa?
