So now we have 7 players fighting it out for 3 spots, add Coutts into the mix and it's 8...that's before we even think about peripheral players like Slater/Whiteman.

Clearly this won't work, sounds like Whiteman could be off on a perm, which would be good for him...but I think we could also see others out.

Surely there'd be interest in Carruthers. For whatever reason, his season just hasn't got going and his progression has stalled, i'd argue he's actually gone backwards. For the sake of his career I think it would be best if he looked to move on, he must be way down the pecking order now.

One thing though, despite a taste or two of first team footy, young Slater has also found his path blocked. Perhaps we should be also looking to send him out on loan to one of the local sides.

Leonard could find himself playing at RWB from time to time; some Southend fans were saying that might be his best position. We needed cover there, so a doubly good acquisition for us if that turns out to be true.

I'm most curious about Evans and what his best position will turn out to be. I've mostly seen him described as a defensive mid with a style similar to Our Lunny, but also heard suggestions that he played a more advanced role for Wigan. Possible cover for Duffy?

Whiteman and Carruthers to leave, Slater back to the youth teams (where he seems to have been developing very nicely) or out on loan.
