Not worried one bit.
If he wants to leave for another club then it shows he's not committed to SU, so tell him to go.... and he misses out on the promotion season. His form over the last few seasons hasn't been that good so very much doubt any Championship club would offer a massive contract when he's only been playing well for 3 months.
I dont think any of our players would leave unless a PL comes in with a big money.
Minor point here, but if Coutts leaves I fear there may not be a promotion season.
And that goes for any one of the three mentioned. So critical to the way we play now, that any changes would require a very expensive replacement to come in and fill their shoes.
However, Duffy and Fleck are tied a bit more firmly so it would need a very good offer, so Coutts really is a player we have to try and secure.
Club need to make their point here, Coutts should be told very clearly he's here til the end of the season whatever. If he wants to go then fine, Wilder will hopefully be level headed enough about it to say to him fair enough, no hard feelings but make sure you finish the job here before you go.
In my opinion, Coutts will hold out til the end of the season to see where we are. He will be on decent money now and will feel he deserves a fair deal for what he brings to the current team. He's one of very few players we have now that will cut it if we go up. So he holds all the cards to get a very good deal out of us.
After all, unless we can grab a freebie replacement a championship standard midfielder will cost 500k minimum with a salary to match. So giving him a 500k pay rise over three years would actually work out cheaper and better value.
