I'd be chuffed with a point against Boro tbh, let's not get lary - I'm enjoying underdog status for now. It's nice to get a bit of respect though.

Most would have took a draw from our first 2 games against highly rated teams like Brentford and Boro.

2 draws = 2 points
So even if we lose to Boro we're still doing well.

But this team have got the habit of winning.
We're on an incredible run, it's now 8 consecutive wins and 16 consecutive wins if you count friendlies.
If we beat Boro then it will send a big message that we might be contenders.

It's a passive attempt at insulting us and a certain sign of nervousness from their side.

Personally, I predicted them to go up at the start of the season and I still think they will. They're readjusting to this level and some of their supporters need to get a grip.

I go into this next game with total belief that we can give them a difficult evening and get something out of it. I also recognise the quality of their squad and that we will need to be at our best. That's the Championship for you.....no easy games.
 
Yeah I won't wet the bed, hang on it must be 45 years since i did, mind you boy did I ever! Think I took a shit as well, anyway what were we talking about? Shit, that's right Middlesborough up next if we win certain promotion, if we don't certain relegation. It's a dog eat dog world in this mega super league.

There will be, you know. We just don't know which ones...
 
Boro will be in the mix for autos, easily top 6 but it could take a while for them to settle into Monk's playing style and get going. We on the other hand know what we are about and already do it well. There is also the potential for the Boro home support to get very restless, very early considering their opening day defeat. It's a good time to play them, one team just promoted, one just relegated and I think we might just come away with something.
 



No disrespect meant, but has anyone told them that if you are a really good team the first month is irrelevant. You could for example get a single point from your first 4 games and then absolutely smash the league, reach100 points and get promoted!

Another set of fans who are way above thier station 1 season in the Prem and they think they are Newcastle. They are nearly as fickle as dull city fans and disappear in thier droves if they have an average season. They have a great chairman in Steve Gibson, without him they would still be playing in front of 8000 at ayresome park.
 
I think we're unlikely to go there and get a result, but they are right to be worried. The blades are coming

Quite. One of a number of clubs where some (not all, as I know one who is completely grounded and concedes that they are a relatively small club from a small town) an exalted view of their status by reason of temporarily being owned by a wealthy and generous benefactor.

I, however, recall Middlesbrough as a club that averaged gates of 4,000 in the second tier in the mid-80's.

Maybe they should check were 100 points Sheffield United were in the league after 5 games last season
 
First off, performance is key. How we take the game to them will be the most important part. A draw is a good result and win would be great.

Yeah, cheating 'Sheffield' deliberately arrange the fixtures to play the mighty Boro and then go and sneak 3 points. Plucky Boro unluckily lose at cheating Wolverhampton and face this meltdown misery.....

The words 'over reaction' don't even begin to cover it.

"Must win. If not we are out of the race for the title."

Fortunately one or two of them have a brain:

"Are we going to have this all season?. How big is this game?, how big is that game?. We're 1 game in for christ sake. I don't remember anything ever getting decided in August and here's a shocker for you. Hold on to your hats for this announcement.

WE'LL LOSE AGAIN THIS SEASON....."
 
Again I'd echo those on hear saying they'd gladly take a point. Regardless of how high some of us think United can piss up against a wall, Middlesbrough would be a significant scalp this season and be 10 times more impressive to me than Saturday. (and I didn't expect us to win on Saturday).
 
the difference with this blades team to previous ones lately is the wording, with this lot i'd hope for a win but settle for a draw, previous seasons i'd take a draw and hope we didn't get beat
 
Just goes to show how weird footy fans are with their hysterical comments. It's only the second game ffs.
 



There are some big clubs in this division and not all of them can do well. I've picked Boro to finish top at the end of the season, but some of these big clubs that now spend oodles of cash on players cannot all do well. Some will go into meltdown and I reckon some are up for a big crash as the reality of spending big and not having "true" finances in place to compensate will hit home.

We could end up with big clubs getting a round of L1 one status again.
