Mid Table

Not a bad return and only disappointing due to our start but we know how far we have to go now. We are on a similar budget to Preston, Ipswich and Brentford who have been in the position we are in now for years. It's going to be difficult to really progress as those clubs have found out.

And it is an achievement given we're new boys in the division. However...tonight has showed that real investment, not £200k here and there, is how you succeed in this division. We've done well, but unless our owners are willing to spend real money, we won't go any further.

Funnily enough I went through the prediction thread the other day and nearly everyone put between 8th and 12th.

We haven't dropped because we've faced insurmountable quality though. We've dropped because we've abandoned a play and personnel that we contributed to our success. I would have jumped at mid table and yet I can't help but see this as a wasted opportunity, more so because we seem to have self-destructed a bit.

I don’t mind finishing mid table this season as we’d all have taken it at the start. It’s the fact that it’s probably the best we can hope for over the next 5 years that’s the kick in the gut. We had a real chance this season with the momentum, unfortunately in true Sheffield United style that was cruelly ended in November at Burton.

Go back to the players at gave us success over the last few games we've become more workmanlike and less flair.

Release Clarke of the captaincy as it doesn't suit him.

What would the mindset be on here, if the headlines said, “Sheffield United, after a decent set of results of late, have moved up to eighth in the table, and are in a position now to challenge the top 6”. Because results apart, we have not been as bad as the results suggest. So I like to think, the glass is half full, rather than half empty. UTB.... FTP.

Nail on head comes to mind. Captain turned his back in wall for there 3rd. Drop basham and Stevens as well.

Yes, but we went top the night our best player broke his leg. That's why it's so disappointing. We've been shown to be a one man team.

That’s fine by me. Unless we spend 10s of millions we will be a one / two man squad.

It’s how the world works.

Just listened to CW on Radio Sheffield. Wouldn't mind a pint of what he's been drinking. Called it right in saying Wolves were better than us though ... couldn't say anything else really
