It’s always been a tinpot trophy. I believe it was the ‘floodlit cup’ originally intended to provide midweek games (and income) for clubs that weren’t competing in the new-fangled European competitions. It’s never had the prestige or history of the FA Cup.

It’s been won by some right rubbish clubs.

Quite rightly, LeedsTV decided that their audience of grannies and kids would prefer some exciting Monster Truck action, rather than watching one of those rubbish clubs parade the tinpot trophy around the soon to be demolished Wemberlee.

No one has won the FA Cup and Promotion in the same season since West Brom in 1931. In fact, that's the only time it's happened.
