He wont be rushing into the transfer market as he wants to give players at the club a chance to prove themselves.I would suggest they have all had the chance to prove themselves and arent good enough, hence our league position. It does make you wonder if he had to agree to the no transfer policy in order to secure the job.The same reason O,Driscoll turned it down.

Ah I love the conspiracy.

Micky was appointed just before Burnley so its only right that he has time to work with the players to see who will work for him and who won't.

As we saw on Monday, Kozzy stepped up to the plate and didn't let him down. Sure he's not a superstar, but he was able to do a job.

Micky isn't daft, he can tell that we're in a bit of a mess at the moment, but he still needs to make his own assessment and then spend his limited budget wisely.

Besides, we've not got a league game until 15th so why rush in now.

Agree Swiss. He's only been here a couple of weeks and needs to see what kind of squad he's got for himself. No conspiracy, just common sense.

I would take the opposite view in that the board have seemed unduly eager to foist a number of players onto the new manager who he may or may not want. I.e. Reid, Wright, McAllister and Conneely. It's vital that Adams takes as long as he needs to assess which players will fit into his style of play, which players he will have to cash in on to raise funds (I suspect Britten and Simonsen) and then plug the gaps as best as he can. As ever, expect to see departures before signings but that might be no bad thing, providing the players he signs are going to contribute directly to the first team in the short AND long term.

Sean O'Driscall turned us downed because he knew the fans wouldn't give him time to turn it around and board wouldnt support him when the going got tough. Ryan at Donny showed balls and stood up and defended him when the fans started getting on his back. Can anyone see that happening at the Lane. I doubt it very much!!

No problem with him taking his time - as long as it's not too long - but if we don't sign at least 2 decent defenders in Jan we are going down I fear. The current lot have proved consistently they are not up to it. Good battling comeback on Mon but we need to keep some clean sheets & get some wins. At the moment we look like conceding at least 2 or 3 every game.

What are the rules regarding the cancellation of season-long loans? If Adams decided he could improve on Calve, Bartley, Nosworthy and Parrino would he be in a position to cancel all their loans and send them back? If so, that would free up FOUR defensive positions in the squad and a large chunk of wages. If not, we already know who four of his defenders are going to be and he'll have to make the best of it. Can anybody clarify the rules? Cheers in advance....

i just hope who ever we sign we sign them to keep and not too loan. Im sick of these shit loanees (except ried) wasting funds that could be better spent

Really? How do you know that?

I don't believe that to be the case the first part at least.

Perhaps Mr O'Driscall didn't have the balls to take on what will be a difficult job in difficult circumstances. He is a right whinger by all accounts. Just wait until the Blades pass Doncaster as they sink into the Moat

At the risk of talking to myself, with the news we've now signed the Irish Defender Conneely we currently have no less than TWELVE defenders in the first-team squad.
If Adams is going to be allowed to sign at least two more (Pearce and Seaborne?), surely he's going to have to offload a few first.
If he's not allowed to cancel season-long loans that means the only fit defenders he can try and sell are Lowton, Ertl, Kozluk and Jordan.
Lowton seems to be the only one of those who would attract offers from elsewhere and that flies in the face of Birch's "8 home-grown players by 2013" statement.
Something has to give.....

Defenders:- Calve, Parrino, France, Lowton, Bartley, Ertl, Nosworthy, Morgan, Taylor, Jordan, Kozluk, Conneely + Pearce & Seaborne (14 defenders!)

Morgs and Taylor are out for the rest of = less 2
France is also long term injured and although can play as a defender is more suited to midfield = less 3
When is Jordan fit again? = less 4
Conneely is new so untried = less 5
Pearce and Seaborne should not be counted as yet = less 7

So we are left with Nos, Calve, Bartley, Parrino, Ertl, Lowton, Kozzy = 7 available.
Nothing that instills any real level of confidense there either.
He needs to add to this pool of defenders if we are to avoid the drop.
We need a real leader to replace Morgs as well. That will make a big difference.

Paddy McCarthy perhaps? He seems to be in that mould.

Another defender I've thought of.....Patrick Kisnorbo (not playing at Leeds I dont think). Although he's a different kind of centre half.

We have plenty of defenders. We also have hardly any decent ones. Getting new decent bodies in is unbelievably important.

Totally agree Highbury, as I think we all do. Also I firmly believe that if you put a competent full back and a strong leader either side of Bartley, he will become a world beater. He has far too much on his plate at the moment.....and is too young to shoulder the burden.

Let's look at the facts.

On the six league games where the team had a clean sheet, Nosworthy, Bartley Calve and Jordan played in five of them. Morgan played in two, Lowton and Taylor one each.

Yep, we're short on experienced strength and depth (not including academy/Irish lads) but a CB and LB are definitely required, particularly if Jordan is a doubt. Apart from that, we don't look that bad if MA can get us playing;

Simmo (Wright/Tomlinson)
Lowton (Calve/Nos), Bartley, XXXXX (Ertl/Nos/Parrino), Jordan (XXXXX)
Willo, Britton (Monty/Ertl), Reid (Yeates/Squinny)
Ward, Ched (Boggy), Yeates (Cressy)

Anyone know when France is back ;)

Let's look at the facts. In the 14 league games where we have conceded 2 or more goals, Nosworthy has played in 12 of them, Bartley played in 9, and Calve played in 8 of them.

I agree with all that but the fact remains that we still have to pay the wages of injured, untried and uninspiring defenders.
We can't afford to pay the wages of 14 defenders, so some will have to leave.
If we can't cancel loans, we will have to sell before we buy and Lowton is the only saleable asset.
Let's hope we can cancel loans, that's the best solution all round.

Just seen Jason Puncheon is available after completing a loan at Millwall. I've always thought he looks a decent player. Would give us some width on the left as well. It looks like some PL clubs might be interested though. Good age at 24!

Just a thought
