4-2I see Chis Guthrie getting a bit of flack, but feel sure I saw him score a hat trick one wet evening in a 5-1 win at Halifax...
Pound for LB, Higgo is by far the worstHenderson cost the club (and its supporters !!) circa £5m in a dire 3 year stint.
By comparison I reckon Sammon will have cost us around £600k for a year and Higdon less than this over 18 months.
As I say, on a pound for pound basis, I believe he is the worst.

Alan Young wasnt bad. He was strong and put himself about. He was always injured and was an expensive signing but we got our fee back in full when we sold him to Brighton. I remember reading in Denis Clareborough's programme notes that Jack Wilkinson (signed from Arsenal by Mercer) being a terrible player even though he did score a hat trick in a match for usIt.s between him and Alan Young for the prize of "worst United player to get a hat trick"

The cynic is me thinks that maybe there was a drink in it for the Brighton manager.I thought Young was terrible. He was our record signing and, as you say, was injured half the season. I was a season ticket holder that season and when he did play he rarely did anything apart from get injured - the one exception being the great overhead kick that was the winner v Oxford in March 83
We made a £20K loss on his sale (£160K - £140K), but given his utter failure in D3, I really can't understand why D2 Brighton paid so much for him

Point this line up out to everyone who still thinks Clough would have sorted our line up out last summer.!
4-2 was a league cup tie (Guthrie 3).we beat Halifax 5-1 in a 4th division match on our way to promotion.I think it was around
Hadn't we got rid of Guthrie by then? Hatton and Keith?4-2 was a league cup tie (Guthrie 3).we beat Halifax 5-1 in a 4th division match on our way to promotion.I think it was around
easter time?!.
We were still in the old 1st division when Guthrie scored his hat rick, yes he was long gone when we played Halifax in the 4th divisionHadn't we got rid of Guthrie by then? Hatton and Keith?
You're right - with 1 exception what a pile of shit we amassed,Found his level then.
The players we hoped would be playing in the championship this season (or at least fire us there last season) are in lower lg1 / league 2 / conference sides. How naive were we to think we were going anywhere near the championship. Even this season with the majority still with us.
Can't wait to see where the rest of them end up in the summer. And it can't come quick enough.
Look at this pile of shit we pinned our hopes on last season. (Line up for 1st game of season). Only one has gone on to play higher and we never chuffing replaced him.

He was as bigger a Carthorpe as Higdon (history repeating it's self).

What's A million here or a million there?was worth a million for his goal at hillsborough
To be fair to Higdon, there also was a good player in there. I think Higdon had eaten him.I agree with Silent, there was a good player in there, pity we didn't see enough of it.
