See i'm gonna counter that.
I think he'll be fine in the Championship.

He came in to a team who had conceded 49 goals in 20 games. The defence was getting absolutely dicked weekly, sometimes multiple times a week. He came in to new surroundings, a new country and a new lifestyle with a bunch of idiots stood infront of him. His confidence was knocked immediately and he never recovered from it.

Of course in the Championship there will be games where we will be under a lot of pressure, but 75-80% of the games, we should be the team dictating the play. The pressure will be off. The defenders will gain confidence, they'll make less mistakes and that will breed confidence into the goalkeeper too, whoever it is.

I saw how shite he was last season, we all did. But you don't spend that amount of time as Atletico Madrid's second GK if you are as shit as he appeared.
I am going to counter this by saying I have eyes and he's shite

14 appearances for Atletico (one of the best teams in the world) and 2 for Croatia.

The point is that he surely can't be as bad as he looked for us last season.

And those 14 apps were behind a significantly better defence than our shambles of last season, I bet he faced less than a shot on target per game!

I don’t see how dropping down a division improves your ability to dive to the floor.

Like you, I can’t square it with him getting game time in Madrid, but he was so awful it’s a risk we really shouldn’t take.

Mate, I know it’s your opinion but how bad he is was clear from a warm up, nothing to do with the matches though that just confirmed it.
The areas he’s lacking cannot be learned, he won’t improve, he won’t fit the requirement for a team with aims of promotion.
He’s worse than any keeper I have seen for United.

Thankfully Wilder knows the importance of security in the keeper position in providing confidence to his defenders as well as ability to stop shots and catch it.
He will be gone. No way he brings in the players he has to simply see the ball bypass them and fly out of play or over their heads due to inability for the defence to trust pass the ball back to the keeper and start again, and allow his abysmal kicking to miss the targets 7 times out of 10.
His career in England is over, a target for any team he faces here and therefore a liability. The fans also won’t take it, be on his back from the first minute so Wilder has to make a fresh start there to get the confidence up.

He’s an absolute liability. Shouldn’t be anywhere near the team, I think he’s actually worse than Verrips.

Agree…..based on what we’ve seen he’s no where near league 1 standard….probably not even league 2 standard…..

So as Brownblade says it’s bizarre how he’s played for the Croatia national team and Athletico Madrid. Their experts know most about football than us and must rate him.

Also has any of our scouts seen him play before buying him. As mentioned just looking at the basics it’s easy to see he’s poor. Would love to know the story how we bought him because he does appear to be worse than Verrips.

He's slow to get down, every shot straight at goes in, he doesn't command his line or box, the defence shit themselves every time the ball goes near him!! OK play him🫣
Defence, what fucking defence was this then? as I didn't see one from sat in the kop and stood up away all last season

I'd like to sell him and get as much money back as we can.

Never want a keeper you don't fully trust.

But I think the point was he probably isn't as awful as we've witnessed so far.
He's terrible. The worst goalie I've seen at Bramall Lane bar none. If the defence shit themselves, it's contagious, trust me, the spectators feel the same.

Right... I'm not sure if the crux of the discussion is being missed here.

E.g. Jack Robinson was borderline the worst player we'd ever had for awhile. He's now a guaranteed starter and player of the season in many eyes.

I'm not saying Grbic will improve, but saying he can't possibly improve is not logical talk.

I for one would like a very competent keeper over the ones we have. It's a very unforgiving place to play and mistakes are very costly. With what I've seen from the ones we have there are a few errors in there lockers

I agree but you have chosen an example there which might disprove your belief lol 😂

Agreed.

He can improve somewhere else.
