Watching that garbage tonight shows how important Gibbs-White was last season.
Without him we carried virtually zero threat and looked absolutely clueless in possession pretty much all over the pitch.
So many players lacking any conviction, any drive and any heart. Many more performances like that and Hecky will be gone.

Was about to post along the same lines... Were we really a top six team last season without MGW, or a midtable team with 1 player papering over the cracks 🤔

Fwiw I do feel we have strengthened, and will be much better when we have the likes of Anel, Doyle and Khadra regularly starting

His presence and attitude lifted players around him but that's no excuse for the gutless and disorganised rubbish tonight.
Turns out a very poor pre-season was a precursor to what we witnessed out there.
Carried a real sense of 'Adkins' about it all.

Hecky isn’t judged on results.

We could always wait for the other players to join in before we judge the team?

Doyle, Coulibaly and potentially McAtee to come into the side. It's only one game. Let's not throw the towel in yet.

Some reasonable critiques can be made tonight about lack of chances created and formations but this is classic reactionary bollocks from you.

One's injured, one's not good enough to get in the match day squad and the other has barely played any first team football.
Either way though, what was out there tonight was completely unacceptable and smacked of a poorly managed team, lacking inspiration and any real game plan.

It's hard for Coulibaly to get into the side when he's not even on the bench. He'll be out on loan again in no time.

Hope you're right.
But I remember how bad Birmingham was in the first game last season - so bad it looked obvious there were significant problems.
Looked and felt very similar tonight.

I wasn't enthused by tonight but neither did it feel overly concerning.

Watford are one of the favourites to go back up and we could have easily have come away with a point bar one mistake, despite not playing to our best.

MGW was always going to be a miss but I remember him playing in some disappointing performances before and after Hecky.

Tonight was disappointing but far from alarming when you consider the players missing and the possible arrival of McAtee.
