MGW and January 2022

Wolves did it to Swansea last season. Recalled him back in early January and he ended up playing 13 games before the end of the season.
 



One of two things will happen.

1) Wolves take a long term view and see a full season of first team football perfect for his development.

2) Wolves take a shorter term view and think he can improve first team with a recall.

You'd like to think a measured view of option 1 is preferable and beneficial for all parties.

Chances of signing him are literally Zero, no ifs, no buts, no maybes.

Enjoy him whilst he's here.

Not so sure.

If we gain promotion back to the PL we’re in the money again.

We’ll be able to afford a 20 to 25 million bid for MGW
You would think Wolves would consider and probably accept that figure for one of their squad players.

If Olsen performs like he should (if he’s Sweden’s number 1 he must be good) then I can imagine us buying Olsen from Roma too.

Of course they aren't - it's only some of our anxious fans.

For all anyone knows, there might be a clause that prevents a recall in January except for extenuating reasons/circumstances.

The whole point for fans is why worry or concern oneself when they know fuck all about what ever deal we've got with Wolves.

I doubt anyone except the recruitment teams knows - it's just like the worried well who always need to think there's something wrong with them.

I'm sure that MGW wants to stick with us for the season since he is getting first team football and is playing really well.
The club knows about the recall so they should be prepared if it it happens or we risk shooting ourselves in the foot.

Talking of things I haven’t heard directly but I’m seeing posts suggesting it’s happening, who is moaning that Slav doesn’t come over to the fans at the end of games?
What’s the issue?
 
GIven how poorly Wolves are playing I imagine there's a chance they're already regretting the decision to let him out. But we are where we are. I'm certain if he continues playing so well then they will recall him, largely irrespective of how well they're doing. It's a new manager and he'll be keen to give him another go, I imagine. No one is standing out for Wolves at all right now.

The only chance we end up with him long-term is if we end up switching positions with Wolves at the end of the season, but even then I imagine they'd want c.£25-30 million for him, which would be a large chunk of our budget. And by that point, if we're getting promoted, we may have found a way to get by without him and prefer to spend big elsewhere (on the defensive side).

Let's just enjoy him while we have him. Anything else is a (very unlikely) bonus.

agreed we really need wolves to pick up for us to have any chance of keeping mgw but the way their playing its looking like a relegation battle for them so thats bad news for us
 
To my mind it all depends on Wolves league position come December.

Hopefully, they will pick up a bit and find a middle-table position. If they continue to underperform and face a relegation battle, I fear they will want him back to help save the sinking ship.

Awaiting with interest to see how he performs against the likes of Fulham, Bournemouth et al.

He’s doing really well now but a strong start in the championship doesn’t make him the player to turn their prem season around.

They don’t agree a season long loan with the intention of recalling him in January. That’s just in case they get loads of injuries.

Unless he himself gets seriously injured, he will stay the whole season. He needs game time and he’s guaranteed that with us.

This is a good point,it's not Wolves form but maybe our form that could be the key here.If we are languishing in mid table,MGW is still doing his stuff but the rest of the team is up and down,another PL team struggling with form or injuries or both could well stick their oar in,and if Wolves think he will be better in a struggling PL team for half a season than in a team treading water in the EFL,they could switch him.

They said “he can be the rock in our defence for years, let’s show some ambition, make a huge bid, pay him whatever he wants”
Notice how his career has steadily gone downhill. He wasn’t this great centre back that Blades thought.

A lot of it is luck though. If Ebanks-Landell had joined on a permanent, what's to say he still wouldn't be here?
 
We will just have to see. Hopefully we keep him till end of season and if we are successful in promotion this stands our only chance of getting him.

Wolves might not want to sell of course but depends on their situation too. They might have no room for him.

But if we don't get promoted then should he leave Wolves it will be to a PL club.
He has a good season here as is being indicated in his first few the likes of Leeds, Brighton, Burnley, Villa etc all will be v.interested.
 
If Wolves are going to recall him, they’d have to see him as a big part of the solution to why they’re playing so badly…not the defence, not the midfield, not the misfiring strikers, but the no10 guy or Adama Traore…
They’d have to believe that MGW is exactly who they need to reignite their season.
It’s a lot to put on the shoulders of a young guy who’s barely played in PL.

I'm not business person, but I still think it would be best - for us and businesswise - from Wolves to let MGW play for us until summer.
Where would he have better ground to shine like he's had with us?

If Wolves carry on like they are doing I think they would be Barmy not to try everything in their power to try and stop the slide.
And I would imagine that the fan pressure alone will make it impossible for them not too.

I have a suggestion…..
Apparently Wolves tried to sign Mcburnie on deadline day, but ran out of time.
In January,sell Mcburnie to em, at reduced fee, on condition they let us have MGW, for rest of season.
Happy days for all.

Spoke to a Swans fan he said that too. MGW played about 5 times got injured and went back to Wolves.

If wolves go down and we go up, we would have every chance of signing him.

Unlikely, but not zero.
 



Wolves will be keeping MGW if they go down, and they will be keeping him if they go up, he's an asset they will look to avoid letting go of unless a daft offer comes in from a top 10 team
