I heard a Fulham fan make that excuse on my train home last week and nearly fell out of seat with laughter. Was the pitch made too wet?
A lot of slipping and falling today.
I could see areas of the pitch that looked worn and like an oil slick.
Seemed to be a lot more falling over than even in a normal rain soaked game.
Not looking for an excuse for being second best.

Yeh, I remember old Dave Bassett liked a soggy slippy surface. We always soak our pitch and then looked stunned when our players slip over.
Youre sending them this message at the wrong time mate, it's months til we play at the Lane again so now's the time to drench it. And it's just coming towards the hottest and dryest part of the year. Terrible time to stop drenching. Grass needs water. Your message, if heeded, could destroy the living element of the desso. Not something you'd want on your conscience. Put the message on ice, spend the summer down the Lane with a hosepipe, and only when next season is imminent, deploy the message. We have done it for years and I don't know why. Players on both sides could hardly stand up at times. If we're going to do it at least get proper studs for our players!
It also cost Fleck a yellow that could very easily have been a red card. The TV replays showed that he slipped into The challenge that he was penalised for - water sprayed everywhere.I’ve said the same a few times this season. We water the pitch far too much and players of both sides slip at crucial times. It’s cost us two goals today but that’s not to say Forest weren’t the better side, they were.
That's why he's the groundsman and you're not...We have done it for years and I don't know why. Players on both sides could hardly stand up at times. If we're going to do it at least get proper studs for our players!
He slips at least one every home game (or seems to). Needs some proper boots.Tbh, Egan nearly slipped doing the same thing not long before his actual slip. He didn't learn.
Yeah we could easily have been 4 down at half timeI’ve said the same a few times this season. We water the pitch far too much and players of both sides slip at crucial times. It’s cost us two goals today but that’s not to say Forest weren’t the better side, they were.
QPR watered their attacking half at half time but didn’t water the end we attacked towards. Given it was our best 45 minutes of the season, I believe there was a direct correlation between the two. We should stop watering as much….All teams do it.
