Message to Selles

Being fair the issue might be the quantity and ability to bring in recruits. Not the quality

Soumare did ok.
Barry did ok
Bindon - really disappointing but playing next to essentially a player which would struggle in non league in RND.

This board have not given sufficient tools for the job yet. 10 out 3 in to my mind is the issue

We need to defend better than Brunsmeer Athletic though surely?

It was utterly stupid to make so many changes after Saturday. The last thing we needed was another drubbing… and that was absolutely another drubbing.
The only slight positive was that Soumare looked good but the rest of that performance was depressingly bad.
He’s piled more pressure on himself and the team.

Birmingham ex League one look at their transfers with their American owners then look at ours oh dear we are in for a long season reminds me of the last time we were in the premiership

Not even a team it was like they had never played together before
SELLES OUT

That’s my message to Selles. That was really bad.
I’m happy to give him time as I feel he’s been given a tough task especially after the departures of Souza and Anel but they were all over the place. 2nd to the ball. Lack of effort to get the ball back and no passing play. Just really awful to watch.

I think pre season wasnt the best as regards opposition

The games against York, Burton, Rotherham and Chesterfield Im pretty sure were all arranged before we appointed Selles. Probably not the best games to have when you are finding out about your squad
When Selles had a say he played against better sides in Nice and Fulham

Saturday was a two sigma outlier between what the result should have been, and what the result was. Tonight was nothing more than a chance to give fringe players minutes and the result was irrelevant. If you think the owners don't realise we need to replace Anel then that's hilarious. I would like that done sooner rather than later just like everyone but I'm alright in trusting the process and that we will get the requisite bodies in. Remember that Wilder round one had an extremely shit start as well.

It's silly to write any manager off after two games, but he's really not had a great start has he? The team selections, tactics and general management of the situation over the first two games has been about as bad as it could have been.

Luckily there's at least 46 games left to show he's up to it.

I have just finished work and checked the score before coming on here, I will be honest I was expecting 4 maybe 5-0 with a Stansfield hat-trick ultimately he is a goal scorer and a near on £10mill striker that Brum paid. I was pleasantly surprised to see the result even though a loss, we have gone there and not exactly been torn a new one. Look at ‘Boro yesterday at home to Donny’s reserves! Hamer’s goal was a fantastic strike and one i won’t stop watching in a hurry, however what I liked even more was the celebration and even though he scored from near on 50 yards out he ran 50 yards plus to celebrate in front of our travelling faithful. UTB

Saint Wilder didn’t win in his first 5 games, definitely not the time to be writing Selles off

Agree - wilder would not have exposed a clearly incompetent RND and had peck as the only nominally defensive midfielder vs Bristol City. We would not have been beaten 4-1 with the same players available.

That said I think he’s seemed self aware on the interviews. He identified the issues vs city and I was pleased to hear him mention the need for some experience and a blend instead of just A.I. / Youth punts in the squad. Makes me feel he’s not completely clueless / naive about what it takes to get results.

But he needs to horses if he wants to play his desired formation. That includes so competent defenders, some athleticism and defensive ability in midfield and probably another wide player.

Lets hope these owners realise that it's not just Anel that needs replacing this squad needs 6 in straight away. Stop giving these shit new owners an excuse what we've seen so far is totally underwhelming. Leeds last year came 3rd and strengthened, thats what I was hoping for, not sell all best players and get zero in?

We need when thug Robbo goes..

3 x CB's
1x DM
1x RB
1 x CF

My worry is we have a player capable of scoring a goal like that tonight, but we’re playing a system which doesn’t utilise his strengths. I hope Ruben changes his system to accommodate better the talent we already have. The squad is not as bad as the performances thus far.

Genuine question. When you saw that starting line up tonight what did you think the result was going to be and how did you think we were going to perform?

Is it just me that thinks given a few signings at the back that can play how selles wants we'll be up there?

I do think if he gets the players he needs we can be but not sure what COH are playing at.

Surely Bettis knows that you can't just let players go without having others lined up and he has to be telling them that. This is the sort of crap McCabe used to do when he was running things, sell a good player and then scrape around trying to find a replacement.

Your inference is correct Tony but the squad is absolutely threadbare, I'd happily not see 6 of the starters ever again play again for us. This team needs immediately 6 incoming, and ideally not from Bulgaria.

Message to you

Don't waste your time.

This place really is rife with pathetic types. That said it was sadly always going to be the case once Wilder was replaced with a foreigner with a different vision.

If Wilder had put that team out with that performance, most of those spouting off would be more reserved.

We were shit against Barnsley last season and shit against Lincoln the season before.

Far worse teams than Brum yet compare the reaction.
What is his vision?

Not arguing for Wilder, but there is no sense of a tactical plan, we just go on the pitch and, well, that’s about it

No press in either game, hoofing the ball long, some excitement on the break in Saturday but absolutely picked apart

I’m sure the system will evolve and if he’s any sort of a manager he’ll manage to utilise hamer and get a tune out of him.

If you had decent CB.s and maybe some more athleticism in the middle (soumare and the Everton lad) it might free him up. Given he played on the left last season I think he’s do you a job instead of brooks on the right. Might enable you to be creative yet actually cover.

I'd say a new CB or 2, and a new RB

Soumare seems a decent Souza replacement and upfront with Campbell/Cannon we need maybe a 3rd option unless we use One?
I've seen enough of Cannon and One to think we cannot possibly rely on them, in tonights match I'd give Cannon 1/10 and One 0/10 he literally didn't doanything correctly.

Caceres, Nwachukwu, Ukaki and Polendakov were not signed for the first team for this season. Do we really have to go through this again?

We've been lucky that Ukaki looks like he might be able to step in as a squad player earlier than expected, though I question why he wasn't brought on against Bristol instead of Cannon, which was Hecky levels of baffling subs.

Some of the reactions on here are pathetic. Two games. Two bloody games in. It's hardly his fault if defensive additions haven't materialised in time. With transition to a new style and at long last a MODERN footballing approach with the aim of establishing the club as a competitive Premier League team, this takes time. If you want to challenge properly, over time, you need either to boom or bust (borderline dodgy tbh) à la Forest or build carefully and astutely.

In fact, I think it is a case of judge not Sellés, but the board. He is clearly trying to implement a style and modern ethos. Very poor of the board not to replace the outgoings Moore and Ahmedhodzić immediately. No signings by the end of the window, then pour your vitriol accordingly, but equally support Sellés in what he is trying to achieve.

I did say before we signed him that this is how Cannon is, and One isn't a LW

Maybe last 15 as a striker but that then means another LW

Agreed. I like the style, I like the ideas and I like how we're trying for it. Given time and backing I reckon we get this right
