Memries of West Ham

I was there in 1990. Lost 5-0. Even worse I was on their end. We were lucky we got nil that night and they had a decent team back then. It was a proper football ground and I can see why many of their fan base detest the new one. Hopefully they will admire our team this year !
So was I (wearing my Sheffield Schoolboys FA claret and blue scarf!). I remember the refrain `there's only one stuart slater' was particularly loud that night

Was anyone at the Lane in the 78-79 season when we thrashed them? I don't remember that much about the match but I still wonder how we went down that year with some of our home results.

Phil parkes played a blinder and ST kept giving them penalties.
Yes he played at the Lane. The Czech keeper played at Upton Park. Hammers had two penalties at the Lane. Dicks effort hit the bar and the ball rebounded to almost the halfway line giving us a breakaway chance. Ward scored the 2nd penalty

Who is ST?

I remember a night game at the lane , good game we won 3-0 , lots of hassle had to defend myself outside midland station as a few come over the roundabout ( at the time ) to try and intimidate us Northan cants
Then over in Belfast saw England win 1-0 playing norn iron , got talking to a few in a pub after game ( you have to stay up there after 10 as trains don’t run south ) who were all sound but really got nasty to the few Chelsea fans that were there
Was that around 1977 ?
Night match, United pummelled them.
Alvin Martin got an own goal.
"West Ham
West Ham
What's it like to be outclassed?", reverberated around the Lane.

I seen to recall a home game against them in 1989(?) where we batttered them and had something silly like 28 corners (20+ in one half) but still lost 2v0.

May have been the same season we were smashed 5v0 at their place.
After that home game I saw Simon Tracey having a pint in the bar at Sheffield railway station.
Must have been about 7pm.
Tracey clearly recognised me as the lad who had thrown the ball back to him at 2:20pm.
However at that minute some Wednesday thugs smashed the window of the bar and the police kicked everyone out.🤪

28th of March 94, we'd not won since new years day

that was live on Sky. The attendance was about 13,600. It’s our lowest Premier League home crowd. It’s also the only time I’ve seen us win a game that we were losing 2-0.

we had drawn the previous 5 games, and won the next one (away at Liverpool)

Could well be hello , still a chabby at school back then but it was indeed a good game ,
Still go to games when over ( and sober ) with some of the lads from back then at school

Their winger Stuart Slater ran Wilder ragged at Upton Park that season remember drinking before and after in Islington . Great away support that night for Tues night in London despite getting arseholed ..the home game they parked the bus played with 3 centre halves & hit us in the break ⚔️

Had proper fallout with one of these c**ts in Cyprus on hols not long after Tevez bollocks .. I corrected him on a few details & conveyed that if he continued along the same lines that we may have a slight disagreement that may result him claiming on his holiday insurance.. after that he seemed to convene a more quieter manner … maybe sometimes I have a more persuasive manner 👍⚔️

Today included, we've had some good battles with West Ham at Bramall Lane over the years.
