Kraft durch Freude
Last season (2016-17) The Blades finished as Division One Champions on 100 points. Millwall finished in sixth place with 73 points – 27 points behind The Blades yet were promoted via the play-offs.
I did ‘Memries of Millwall’ back in November 2017. So what has changed since then? The upcoming home match against The Lions marks Chris Wilder’s 100th match in charge of The Blades.
On December 2nd 2017, we lost our league match at The New Den 1-3. Falling 0-1 behind to a goal from Millwall’s Gregory, United would go in at half-time with the score at 1-1 thanks to a sublime goal from David Brooks. However, sloppy defending from United allowed (‘Wherefore art thou?’) Romeo and Cooper to secure the points for The Lions. This game was the start of a 3-game losing streak for The Blades.
Since then, Millwall have surged up the table and are currently on a run of 16 unbeaten league games, including eleven wins. The Lions have not lost a league match since a 2-1 defeat at Norwich on New Years Day.

Millwall top scorers

Men to watch
Sheffield-born and a product of the Sheffield United Academy, Lee Gregory had a less-than-stellar start to his career but signed for Millwall on 16th June, 2014 from FC Halifax Town where he had been a prolific scorer (82 goals in 129 appearances). Since joining the Lions, Gregory has been almost ever-present and has scored 53 goals in 152 appearances.
Another player who has recently ‘come to life’ is George Saville. Originally at Chelsea, Saville had loan spells at Brentford, Bristol City and twice at Millwall before joining The Lions on a permanent basis on 26th June, 2017 for an undisclosed fee. Currently second-highest scorer on ten goals, Saville is also a Northern Ireland international with four full caps.
