or Arsenal, Leeds, Derby, Man City.....

I know what you're saying though, the football that team played (on it's day) was far better than Blades side since.
yeah and i may have developed rose tinted spectacles since.. in the light of recent events i think i can be excused :D

Don't understand, are you asking me or telling me?
Anyway my response was that even before we'd sold Currie or decided to financially ruin ourselves by building the SS, in other words, pre-1973, we still hadn't won anything, well at least since 1925. (unless you want to count 'League North Champions' in 1945)

I'm all for reminiscing about our former great players and characters but let's not kid ourselves they were world-beaters. I always hear the phrase 'on their day' in relation to the Blades team of the 60's and 70's. All that tells me is that they were very inconsistent and often played below par.

Not much actual evidence of us "ripping Man.U to shreds" with that team either as mentioned in the OP.

We had a better record against them in the early 90's against a much better Man.U team:-

14 Oct 1967 Sheffield United v Manchester United L 0-3 League Division One
20 Apr 1968 Manchester United v Sheffield United L 1-0 League Division One

TC is a cunt. Wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire. Likes to knock his lass about and bully kids.
Gave it the "do you know who I am" line to me once. He's Blue to thank that I didn't knock him out on the spot.
Cretin of the highest order.
Not fit to wipe Keith's boots.

While we're on about Blades legends being twats, I hear Derek Dooley was a cunt of the highest order. He never got a round in at the bar and used to smack his lass about with his prosthetic leg.

:-)

I honestly believe that if we could have got Brian Clough in as manager after he left Leeds and before he performed miracles at Forest, then things could have been very different.

:)
Charlie Hartfield once called me a fat bastard... and I wasn't even fat then! o_O

A couple of rules to remember here:

Genius on the pitch does not equate to fine upstanding human beings.

In the land of tiny people, the 5 foot man is King.
We might not have won anything through the 60s and early 70s, but in comparison with much of what has been seen since in a Blades shirt they were high quality. Time and much of the dross since adds extra sheen that is probably not warranted.
