I can't remember the date but I'm sure it was a 3-3.
Me and my Dad had been invited by one of their Directors and were sat in the Directors box, with the Blades fans to our right and when we scored we jumped up to celebrate for which we were roundly berated, only for my Dad to tell the moaners to "stop being miserable b*******!" :)
But my main memory of that game was the seemingly constant chant of "oh when the Blades go marching in....." :D

Surprised nobody has mentioned the five nil hammering at home, with Billy Mcewan getting tin tacked after the game. The reason this stands out for me was I was still a nipper and couldn't believe the greatest team in the world were capable of such hammerings!.

Of all the United games i've seen in the last 50 odd years,this is one that would be included in my top 10.It was a wonderful victory in a great season and probably the most significant result of the campaign.I remember the second goal,when Deane chipped over the keeper it seemed to take an eternity for it go in,i was 40 years old and ran up and down the terrace like a kid,the fans reaction to that goal was unbelievable.

I went on the special train around that time Silent .... I thought we had lost something like 3-2 in the Texaco Cup and it was around 77/78 ish.

Christ my memory is crap !!

9th Nov 1985..Morris 2, Edwards 2, Arnott 1..Utd scored 5 goals in a 24 min spell..I've just looked it up , I'm no Silent.
I remember it for (presumably sometime during the 24 min spell) each player who touched the ball getting their name chanted..Stan Stan Stan Stan, Keith Keith Keith Keith, Colin Colin Colin Colin...etc
Well...it amused me at the time, sorry :(
Now back to the real reason for my post Tom..
Kevin Arnott always had a reet game (even when he didnt)...2nd only to Big John McPhail as my girl-thing fave Blades..So get the exclamation mark removed and we'll say no more :D:D UTB

Anglo Scottish Cup and yes, it was 3-2 to us and in August 1977. We won at Hull but lost 5-4 at home to Notts County

That's exactly my memory of the second goal Doc. It did seem like ages before it hit the net.

He dropped an easy catch for Oldham's equaliser. A Blade near me slated him off but my dad defended him saying that he has saved us a lot in the season and got into an heated argument with the Kelly critic! speedymcgeady might remember this!
 
Last time we went to Oldham, the season before last I think, we didn't pass a programme seller on the way in and they'd sold out from the little kiosk on the concourse. We asked a steward where to get one. He took my three quid, walked out of the ground to find a seller, and reappeared ten minutes later with a programme.

It made my day. Not sure I can think of many stewards at many grounds who would do anything similar for away supporters. Certainly not in the Champ or Prem. It's a favourite League 1 "memrie".
 
Been once, remember it was a dump, can't remember when it was , who I was with, or score - must have had a few.

Oldham's equaliser? I thought they scored first. I could be wrong about that.

Remember it well,your Dad said Kelly had saved us on many occasions ,and to think on...in his own words,of course..
Didn't your Dad also nearly run Donachie over in the car park at this game?
