Pity some idiots today think wrecking AC units and chucking smoke bombs is fun.

I bet that scene was hilarious - genuinely funny :D

Once went in a chippy in Grimsby before the match and my mate asked for fish and chips. The lady behind the counter said they didn't have any fish.
My mate said "Are you kidding, dangle a fuckin rod out the back door":D

Yep, 9/11 for me too. Most surreal football match I have ever been at, where the result couldn't have mattered less.

Remember going around April 1996 during Kendall reign. Me and the missus only decided to go about an hour and a half before the game and drove about 110mph on the M180 to get there, then sat with the Grimmers and tried to keep quiet as we won 2-0. Team included Vonk, Ablett, Taylor and Walker. Think Ablett and Walker scored but could be wrong.

Remember the 4-0 defeat ,only just got my first car and took my mates ,we were moving slowly in a traffic jam in Cleethorpes towards the ground and this good looking girl in a short skirt walked past ,I was looking of course and bumped into the car in front. While everyone in our car pissed themselves laughing the guy in front got out fuming ,saw the idiots in my car and got straight back in again :)
Not the best of days.
My only other memory is a well know nutter who follows Utd wading into everyone who wanted a fight in the big stand to the left of where we stand ,he took about 10 out and didn't get nicked.

Reg Brealey was at the match as a guest of a Grimsby director. He was impressed with the Blades support despite that we were losing 4-0, he then decided to join our board in the summer before becoming our chairman a year later

Last time I went to Grimsby we dropped the lasses off in Cleethorpes shopping area (yes I know) while we went to the game. After five minutes they had seen the shops and went to the pub. Went to meet them after the game they aren't in the pub full of unitedites but in the one across the road surrounded by riot police with horses and dogs. It went a bit quiet when they shouted to us across the pub the've won then ........... we had Nuddy getting the only goal , a hasty retreat dragging two drunks out

Many years ago..... Stood outside a chippy in Clether-piece I Saw Paul Heaton looking really menacing, with some United hoolies.

Don't think it had quite sunk in what had happened on that particular day until I watched it back that evening. If been at college all day and we were pretty shut off from it all.

Was sat in the home end that night with the mutants/Grimsby fans. I seem to rememberUhlenbeek getting sent off near the end of normal time and Suffo scoring

also remember seeing my self on the telly as edwards did a bend it like beckham free kick

Was at the 4 nawt game as well , went another time with a certain group of boys , around 6 of us went into there seats and went mad when we scored , they started showing off , but we just sat there .
The boys in blue moved us on and out , we then had to peg it back to away end , pay a second time to get in , we where in the seats and when we scored a second time we all dropped down into terracing , and went up onto fences , good job we won .

We set off about 6 pm, not knowing too much but enough to realise how serious it was. My daughter phoned about three and said, look at the Internet news. As I left work, there were crowds of people watching the news on the TV screens in Currys window. In the days prior to terrorist attacks it seemed very scarey.

1-0 defeat, February 2002.

Our van skidding on ice and crashing into a roundabout.

Fighting in the away end between pro and anti Warnock fans.

Paul Peschisolido hitting me with a warm-up shot, dislocating my finger and causing me to spill hot Bovril on my bollocks.

An escaped mental patient joining in with our game of football on the beach and shouting racist jokes before having an asthma attack.

.....I've had better away days.....

Was the 0 - 4 game when they did not open the sht wooden exit gate at full time? Felt sory for those guys at the bottom of the steps, could have turned nasty.

Must have been late 70s

Freezing cold day...I think it was an FA cup match ( Silent?) the smell of fish waftin over the ground.
Remember it was muddy too ,one of our players (Stainrod I think ) hit the ball and it was going in.......but it got stuck in the mud.

Think we must have lost, then we got locked in at the end of the game and all that could be heard was the sound of hundreds of Blades kicking the wooden fence down around the ground.

Oh what memories

I took my lad there, can't remember the year but the Blades won, together with a work colleague and his lad who are Grimsby fans. He'd bought us tickets in the main Grimsby stand and we sat very quietly as the Blades set about the home team. Bloke behind us was getting very aggressive, standing up mouthing off to anyone who'd listen, slagging off Sheffielders. Just when we started getting a tad worried the Blades scored. Half the stand jumped up, all Blades. Never heard another peep out of the cod head behind us!

December 1979 in the FA Cup 2nd round? We lost 2-0 and Stainrod had already moved to Oldham early in the year. He thought he had clinched a hat trick in the 1st half of the 4-1 win against Luton in April 1978. He rounded the keeper then shot towards the empty net and wheeled away to celebrate not realising the ball had stuck in the mud and cleared away!

The luton game is the one I remembered .

Remember 11/9 (we're in uk right?), felt like a very long ride home after. another memory is being in the Leaky Boot before a match sometime in the early/mid 00s and "Wooly Bully" came on and the place went mental.

Oddly Grimsby chippies only serve Haddock. Vile.

Another time was a 1-1 draw at the lane , was on the lane end , and after we scored SY police decided to toss the few of us in out , went onto the john st terrace , when it was there , almost got a slapping off the blades as theyd seen my jacket on away end and assumed I was a cod head ,
Had a coat with the name of my fav band on at the time on the back , only when they asked me the old chestnut of where ya from in Sheffield , did they believe me ,
Me and the guy stood toe to toe against Reading in there own ground later on .

remember that stainrod game

Been to Grimsby thrice and all during Neil Warnock’s reign.

A 1-0 defeat just after we’d signed Paul Furlong on loan and we took a set piece that was so bad Grimsby almost scored from it and was met by a chant of “what the fucking hell was that” by our own fans and. Think Michael Boulding might have scored for them before going on to sign for us.

A Tuesday night penalty shootout defeat in the league cup. September 11th. I think this may have been the game where Steve Kabba got a standing ovation from our fans whilst playing for them. We signed him shortly after. Think Suffo scored for us.

The 4-1 win in the triple assault season. Had some car trouble before the game which meant I got there late just in time to see a rare goal from Kozzy from distance.

Ok then Silent, my first initial thought as that it was Mick Speight.......but then I thought Stainrod.
Am I right in that it could have been Mick Speight? Or am I just going senile......end of term ....that's my excuse.....

September 11th 2001, losing on penalties.
You know United are crap when that sticks out even on that day!

I remember that whenever I hear the old "Where were you when you heard about such and such" question. Sat in the Globe in town waiting for my lift to Grimsby, watching BBC News on the big screen in shock.
