Has a pig manager ever been hated as much as Smegson? I think not, and there have been more than a few obnoxious chief snortbeasts in my time.

even before he was a pig i hated him more for his face than any football reasons

Yes, Woody certainly played with Edwards on plenty of occasions. He left for Tulsa Roughnecks in the newly formed American 'Soccer' league in 1978.

Woody apparently still lives in Tulsa OK. During his playing days there they nicknamed him "Boomer". Hopefully due to his fearsome shot.

Howard Wilkinson is a close second.

Isn't Wilkinson the last English manager to win the Premiership (or Div 1 as it used to be.)?

I felt he did act with a great deal of dignity during the piggies darkest moment when he took the poisoned chalice of Chairman after fat boy (where he now..?).

Having said that, I still wouldn't want to go on a caravan holiday with him...

He actually went up in my estimation after that. If there were more people with his integrity in football it would be in a much better state.

And you just know that they're the only kind of holidays he takes.

Well I certainly hope he earned a shilling or three. He certainly deserves it the pleasure he brought Bladesmen. I vaguely remember him scoring directly from a corner at the Shoreham end !:)

I recall seeing him in his first league match in 1964 - he was 18 and looked promising even then. I went abroad in early 1966 and didn't return for 19 years so I missed the best years of Woody (along with TC and a few others) - something that I have always regretted.
