CONFIRMED McMahon joins Blackpool permanently

I didn't think you could recall loans done in the window until the next window. So for example Coady could have been recalled in the current window by Liverpool but once the window is closed they couldn't recall him.

I think everyone is getting a little excited about us signing Brayford. Firstly i think you're looking at least a million quid given that Cardiff paid 1.5m for him in the summer. Even if we could match the asking price. He will be on at least a five figure weekly wage, making him by far our highest earner. Even if we can meet his wages, we cannot compete with premiership or championship clubs on what division he will be playing in for at least a year.

To me the best case scenario for us in the summer is that Cardiff don't want to sell him, he agrees to join us on a season long loan (not that far fetched given his comments about NC) with a view to a permanent deal being completed provided we get promoted next year.

I don't normally like to reply to myself, it makes me feel lonely, but it's sort of along these lines and I've left it too long to edit my last post. (Edit: Bladesman got in before me so now this part makes no sense)

Whilst I am glad McMahon has gone because I thought he was dog turd, it was disappointing to hear an interview with Brayford where he seemingly showed no interest whatsoever in staying with us after his current loan ends. Something along the lines of him wanting another go at the Premier League because he hasn't been given a fair crack, which is fair enough, but then going on to say that this is just a loan move and he didn't seem interested in staying afterwards. I just hope we don't get left with nobody to play at right back next season
We never had a hope of keeping brayford, he didn't need to drop this low even on loan, he'd be daft to do it permanently. Just good to have such quality in for now

Good.
The guy seemed like a dick. We'll get someone in who's younger, better and without the attitude hopefully.
Agree with others that Brayford won't be here next season..but like the 'season long loan idea' mentioned above :D

I'm pleased he's gone, as I will be when the other experienced failures go (you know who you are). But it's impossible to be happy until we're safe and sound.

Once we are we'll have a blank canvas for Clough to paint his footballing masterpiece on. :)

Did someone call?

Hi, J.D.

I'm happy McMahon's gone. Part of the re-build done early.

Now, if we at all have any cash to use this season, please can we get the striker we have been desperate for all season

I have seen Brayford play once, he looked good, but I am not getting carried away after a single cup performance. Mcmahon was not shit and performed well at times. Took an excellent free kick. Good luck to him.

I'm sure we could do better than McMahon at the end of the season, and on Sunday's evidence Brayford is a good upgrade.
But ... we have no cover at RB now, and Brayford hasn't played much recently. Knowing our luck he's likely to get injured next week! Then what? Can we recall Westlake?

Yeah not to bothered about McMahon going..good luck to him though.
I like how Nige said we didn't really want to lose Tony, but we wanted Bob Harris...can't help but think Nige snatched their hand off as I don't see that TM was in his plans moving forward.
Brayford looks a different class on that showing.

It'd be interesting to know how much we will save from McMahons salary taken off the payroll. Given the reported interest from championship sides when we signed him, I imagine he was quite well paid & I hope this gives us a bit more manoeuvrability to reinvest in the squad.

My enduring memory of McMahon is last season at Brentford. On about 60min or something, 2-0 down in the pouring rain and miserable cold, he gets subbed, and walks off so so slowly. Made me furious at the time. Would always be there lapping it up when things were going well but couldn't take charge or even show he cared when they weren't.

I do hope not!

Clough ditching McMahon is the right move for me. Two decent full backs who can play football and get forward and most importantly put the ball into the right areas of the pitch at the right time is vital. McMahon can't do any of these things and if he plays for Blackpool I would expect them to struggle and probably get relegated.

I was genuinely impressed when we first signed him but ever since he has been such a disappointment.

I've seen a few people on tweet complain saying that we have got rid of "one of the few left with a passion for the club". To me he has never had passion for the Blades, just petulance and he always looked capable of being sent off in any given match. I for one am glad we have got rid. He offered very little although in recent games I thought he had picked his game up slightly.

And also I don't know where people are getting that he was decent at set pieces. He only scored two granted they were corkers, but he was hardly prolific.

Well done Nigel, it's been the best Jan transfer window in a few years by the looks of it. (Not too hard albeit). One thing I'm surprised by in this thread is that nobody has mentioned Mcmahon's tendency to cheat at every given opportunity. I hated seeing him dive for a free kick at any given opportunity and will be happy to once again watch a game without cringing and feeling embarrassed every week. Reasonable enough player seemingly with a bad attitude and little integrity. Good riddance, let's move on and continue the transformation we've started. :)

He's sketched the background JD Painting the canvas has started. I can see the blue sky at last.

my memory of him will be at the final whistle at Villa ,when all the players and manage/coaches all embraced each other before going to the fans together McMahon went straight to the fans to milk the admiration for himself ,and was also the last off the pitch ,like he was some kind of superhero.
