Jon-Paul McGovern has been linked to join former Town boss Danny Wilson at Sheffield United.

With the rumour mill in full flow, it's believed that McGovern in high on Wilson's wish list.

McGovern, 29, featured more than any other player during the 2009/10 Play-Off season. However, he suffered a significant dip in form during the following campaign.

The former Celtic youth player spent time at Bramall Lane during a loan spell in 2003 but later linked up with Sheffield Wednesday where he won the 3rd tier Play-Off Final before joining Milton Keynes Dons.

McGovern joined Town in 2007 and has made over 150 league appearances for the club.

Online reports suggest that Wilson is willing to fork out £400,000 for McGovern's services.

Not be £400000 though. Better not be as there are much better out there for that sort of money

Wan't there a Jean Paul who played for Forest a few years back. He looked quite good on Champ Manager. Can't remember his last name tho

Gaultier?

There was that Louis Jean who played for them at least in the play-off semi final season (02/03).

if we spunk 400 grand on an over the hill player then we really are in the shit.

Seen in Sheffield yesterday (sumat and knowt?)

Apparantly, When asked if he was going to return to Sheffield (this was at the time it was rumoured he might be heading back to the pigs) he answered "I just might".

Will he, wont he?

Oh the excitement! :(

Decent consistent performer at this level - 'willing to pay £400000 for his services, whats that, 2-year deal on £2000 a week and a nominal fee to get him of the probably equivocally poor, cloth-cutting Swindow? Definitely worth a punt at that level, though I'd prefer he had Hendo/Slew on the end of his crosses.

Apparantly, Paul Walker has said he aint coming to us. He's agreed a deal elsewhere

Think he's good mates with the presenters at Radio Sheffield so I'd back Walker to be right on this one.

I love our local journalism.

I think those prices are quite realistic for Quinny, Monty, Ched, and Hendo.

Personally if Slew left I would think Ched and Hendo would actually do well at League one level but we'd still lack pace.

Wouldn't surprise me if some of the high earners stay till Jan and see where we are. then maybe move on then.

Went to a friends yesterday for a BBQ and JP Mc played 5 a side with him last week, he said he was signing for us this came straight from horses mouth and also mentioned his wages at his last few clubs. Looking at this i can see why we are signing him.

Pigs £900 p/w
Mk Dons £1800 p/w
Swindon £1200 p/w
