9 in 21 starts for McG and 16 in 20 starts for Billy. They are some stats for any striker. UTB
Great stats but I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say Didsy could be on close to 20 goals by now?

It’s great that we create very good chances and get in great positions to recieve those chances, it’s only recently that we’ve started to be more clinical, this can only bode well for the confidence of the players and our whole team in general.

I think it would be a slight exaggeration, tbh - there are some brilliant finishers in the Championship this season (Maupay, Abraham, Gayle, Sharp) but none are close to 20 goals.

Even the best strikers miss chances (off top of my head, Sharp missed a great one against Leeds and should really have had another 2 against Derby). If McGoldrick had scored from every "good" chance he's had this season then sure, he'd be closer to 20 goals than 10, but it would take some incredible luck or unreal finishing ability to do that. I think it's fair to say that McGoldrick has been a bit lacking in both departments - some of his misses have been fantastic saves or goal-line clearances, and some have been down to his finishing simply being a tier below the players listed above.

The main thing is that he's kept getting in good positions to score. And that as a team we've continued to create really good chances for all our strikers.

It does beg the question of how many goals someone like Maupay would have scored if you dropped him into our team. But as someone who's loved watching McGoldrick play this season, I'm very pleased with how the last few weeks have gone :D

I was just emphasising the point that we do create very good chances and that is a good trait to have.

I love how Didsy plays by the way.

It's an interesting but well worn question - how would a gifted midfield/team enable the current divisional hotshots to blossom if they were to play together?

Truth is, it's not always as easy as the question suggests. The puzzling question of chemistry cannot be determined by reputation alone. Of course, who doesn't want the currently fashionable scorer in their team, and with our approach to playing football it's probably safe to say that someone like Maupay or Abraham would excel with the service they'd receive. But it doesn't always work out the way you expect, so a lot of behind the scenes work needs to be done before a club decides who to sign.

A good point. If we all knew what was going to happen in football I’m pretty sure the betting people of this world would all be millionaires. Football is so unpredictable in every aspect.

I suppose I'm less uncertain about who we might sign given the management team we have wiz. Of course mistakes can cost, but due to the expertise we appear to have at the club we seem to make fewer errors than we might do. Hussey comes to mind, but the good thing about that situation was that Wilder wasted no time in correcting his mistake. Quite a few Blades, understandably, are prone to ask, "Who?" when an relatively unknown player is signed. But look at Crainie's performance yesterday. He just got on with his job, didn't let us down, and confirmed that on the whole Wilder seems to have a first rate eye for a player, no matter which division they come from.

We cannot carry a forward who doesn't score for any length of time and hope to finish in the top 6. Wilder knows this - why do you think Clarke isn't starting?

His non scoring run was a legitimate concern. Now happily it isn't.

Why do you think Tufty (quite rightly) left Sharp out when he did?

Part of the management is to keep the subs and the whole squad happy so when they are called upon like Crainie was yesterday they are ready to step up. He seems to do a good job with this as there was a great rapport with the fans yesterday as each and everyone of the subs looked happy as Larry whilst acknowledging the fans and Crainie did step up to the plate.
