He has got some lovely skills this lad. His first touch is on a par with Duffy's and even better when dealing with balls that are pinged into him at pace. Thought he looked terrific in behind Sharp and Madine too. A potentially great trio in the making there.

As much as I love Duffy, he may struggle to keep a spot now with McG and Dowell seemingly featuring ever more in Wilder's thoughts.

How nice to have options though; feeling very confident in this squad.

To be honest I don't think McG has a briliant first touch, it often runs away from him but a lot of the time he seems to get lucky and retain possession or find a teammate. Once in control of the ball he is excellent though.

I wouldn’t post this if we hadn’t won but McG created more problems for our defence than Boro’s attack did (maybe a slight exaggeration but you get my point). He also gives needless fouls away and makes poor decisions - I can’t understand why so many say that he has a good football brain. But I still like him, I just wish that he was more consistent.

There were a couple of occasions where, if I hadn’t seen him play a lot, I’d have been thinking ‘is he a footballer?’ It’s not that unusual with flair players though, one minute they look genius then they do something and you think WTF. I watch Spurs quite a bit and Eriksen has that about him, as does Son.

I really like him, best value signing of the season.

However, I agree with some of the other posters. His first touch isn’t all that and can be really inconsistent. Sometimes is really heavy, like he’s got a trampoline in his boot and means his second touch is a tackle. He had a few of these last night.

He tries too many flicks and backheals in stupid positions, though the ones that do come off look brilliant. He tried a few last night. One or two came off then several lost possession.

I think he often looks a bit ungainly and clumsy which often works to his advantage as he is unpredictable. I wouldn’t want to mark him.

Every now and again he pulls something off that’s silky as fuck and simply sublime. If he was pulling off these moments more consistently we’d have never seen him in a blades shirt.

All in all, but inconsistent for me, classy as fuck when it comes off and really glad we signed him. Touch wood, what injury problems?!

It's amazing how often his first touch puts the ball into a lot of space for him to run into. Sometimes it looks like a bad touch, but I think it's often deliberate, especially when it has backspin on it, so it doesn't run away from him.

We were commenting that his successful flick ratio last night was like his general chance / goal ratio. About 1 in 6.

Re the flick, which was great, having done it well once, he kept trying and it only worked again near the end.

Still glad we have him though.

It was great, but for a 31-year-old pro who knows how to play, he needs to know when to cross, rather than shoot from wide to the near post, or at the very least, if he does shoot from out wide, to go across the Keeper. I might sound critical, but he's done that twice in the last two games

to be fair at times Norwood has the same traits , at times spell binding other times like hes got a spell in his foot

McGoldrick has a deceptively laid-back swagger about him but he is very skillful. Don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but he lacks some power when he's shooting. There were a couple of times yesterday when it was almost like he was passing the ball to their keeper.

Personally, I think Billy Sharp has got the best first touch in the squad, by a considerable distance.

But you can’t deny McGoldrick has been a great signing, excellent link up play and takes the pressure off Sharp and creates space like no other strike partner has.

It’s also quite remarkable how many games he’s played, considering his poor injury record at Ipswich, is it our medical staff behind that or a positive change of mindset for DM, that has run down into his legs
