one was signed as a very promising centre half and although looking the part hardly plays the part, whilst the other was provided with a new contract and in my opinion never let himself down when in the team.
Both have however been consigned to the fringes anyone any idea what has happened and what the future holds?

McGahey - Barely looked a footballer the few times he featured. Clumsy and has little to no positional sense.

Wallace - Didn't deserve a new contract, said so at the time, but has improved marginally since. Nowhere near enough to have justified the contract extension however.

McGahey is one of the softest central defender I have seen - far too easy to knock off the ball.

I don't think McGahey is up to the job at all.

Wallace is a stranger one. He did play well and offered an attacking threat from LB, but at least once a game he seemed to go on some kind of a gap year excursion and end up miles out of position.

McEveley has been playing well, Woolford has been cover on that side. That accounts for some of it. It'll be interesting to see what happens Friday. But against Burton he even swapped the Beard over there.

Is Wallace playing u21s?

Barney. Assuming you are talking about Kieran, you are talking out of your arse. He was coming on leaps and bounds this season and fully deserved his new contract. Why, since he signed it he has vanished from the squad only Adkins knows. Thought he may have been given a run as our left sided wingback. Would be handy if Adkins was pushed on the subject by RS or maybe Mr Shield actually doing some proper journalism for a change

He was performing averagely as opposed to poorly like the rest. He stood out as a result. If you think that's coming on leaps and bounds, you've got lower standards than I have.

I thought he'd been injured for a fair while.

Derf, interested to know who are the six that you rate?

Mine are, value for money related:-
Long, Basham, McEverley, Flo ( assuming he proves his fitness) K. Wallace, Reed, Adams and any of the young pros, I.e DCL, whiteman etc.

Brayford, Sharp too expensive
Done, runs around a lot but never rated him and sure we could get someone better, both in terms of a fee and wages.
The rest I think are self explanatory

Barney you have'nt seen him play this season have you ?

Watched him in the games he played earlier in the season if you're talking about Wallace. I've still got bad memories of McGahey from under Clough. I can still remember that horrific shielding of the ball he did to Howard when he should have just cleared his lines. Often caught out of position as well.

and there you have it, just a shame that he was never in the team. Has made 4 appearances since he went to Shrewsbury on loan in January. Guess we've all worked in places where there's a sicknote who is just always off sick and you never see them. Trouble is this was a known issue with Wallace and was pointed out to Clough when he signed him and he just shrugged it off in the interview. Part of the legacy.

Obviously you've hardly watched him this season. We were doing far better in the earlier parts of the season and with him in the side. We didn't miss Bob Harris. Then again we have more chance of automatic promotion than you giving any sort of praise out where United are concerned

Really rate Wallace from what I saw of him. In the early part of the season the 2 stand out players for me were him and Freeman, both had some cracking games although you could certainly argue that they did show defensive naivety at times.

This was always likely to cost Freeman his place with Brayford coming back, however I never felt Wallace had done enough wrong to merit being dropped for McEveley who was getting slatted by the fans at the time, although McEveleys recent performances probably have justified this.

I still feel that if we are going to be sticking with 3-5-2 Wallace would be much more suited to the wing back role than McEveley, who can easily move to CB. Wallace is one of the few players we have who look genuinely comfortable on the ball and is never afraid to run with it at his feet.

Yes i was talking about Wallace and he was playing well at left back very impressive because before he went at left back i was thinking he was'nt going to make the grade but he seemed a different player . I think he is injured at the moment.

Adkins updated on Kieran Wallace in his interview today – Wallace has been out for a while with a pelvic injury and some way away still.
