So it is very clear, if it wasn't before, that prospective managers are being told: "your remit is to lower the wage bill and get us promoted". It's not exactly atttractive to managers at other clubs ala McCall and Robinson.
We will be taking on an out of work manager desperate to get back into the game or one at a lower level of the game at a club with less than us (eg Northampton - Aidy Boothroyd).
This is anyone's job at the moment - Southgate, Boothroyd, Appleton, Barker, Slade, Morgan, Downes, Arnold, Hodges all offer decent odds.
None of these fill me with joy - I'd like us to try for Steve Davis from Crewe: in two seasons he has got them promoted, kept them steady in league 1 and won the JPT. All on a budget less than a shoestring and blooding youngsters through. Sounds just like what needs to happen with us. Why would he leave crewe for us? 1. We will pay him a higher wage. 2. We moan about no money available but he will have at least 3x that than he does at Crewe. 3. The chance to manage a team in front of 15,000+ fans week in week out as opposed to 6,000.
Unfortunately, I see his odds to become the new Wolves manager have been slashed to evens. Why was he not on our radar???!!!
