Against Coventry, McCall said he felt “we had a lot of individual players on top of their game. “Thought there were 5 or 6 contenders” for MoTM
He is happy with three wins out of three, but the coaching staff said to the players at half time v Cov that we need to go out there and kill the game off, which we were a “bit disappointing” at doing v Hudds and Wigan
Re progress of McAtee, he has "shown his character and is starting to show on the pitch what he does every day in training". Time to "turn it into more goals"
Coaching staff message to midfielders, in 1v1, “go at them”,” be positive”, “we’ve got players who can destroy people”. “Don’t be going backwards”. Says McAtee has that.
He is obviously really happy with McAtee and Doyle, and says their area of development is defensively, though he acknowledges their best attributes are going forward.
Said the fitness and competition for places is strong: 2xLWB, 2xRWB, 5xCB all fit and ready.
“Middle of the park, with Sander and Doyle coming back, is strong”. Up top “we have been a bit light with injuries, but they’re coming back”
Says Lowe “dedicates himself to his training”. “You can’t just go on the park and play, you have to train well” and “he has been at the full”
Re Blackpool, no further players returning for the game. “Similar squad again”. “Sander got a little knock, but he is fine”. “All ready again”. McBurnie wasn’t mentioned or asked about.
“When we sit down and go through the side, we could put three or four teams on the board, and not be any weaker”. “When we bring 3 subs on, they don’t make us any weaker”.
Blackpool have a “good dressing room, good spirit, good professionals”. “They’re dangerous”
“They will want to get out of the bottom three as quick as they can”.
“We are in a good run of form, especially away from home and we want to keep that going”
“We are well aware of the threats they pose”. As much as we respect the opponent, we focus on us and what we can do to them.”
I really buy into McCall. Really glad we have him and enjoy listening to him.
