Mcburnie

If McBurnie gets picked in the starting eleven tonight I will seriously start worrying about Hecky's team management.
Unfortunately we're out of options. Jebbison's obviously not ready in Hecky's opinion.

Stats like this annoy me. McBurnie has played 1,394 minutes in those league games. That's an average of 41 minutes per appearance. I'm not saying that going 15.5 league games without scoring is good but there is a little bit of context to be applied.

FWIW here's the minutes since last goal for those 5:

1 McBurnie 1,394 (15.5 games)
2 Campbell 1,152 (12.8 games)
3 Muskwe 1,137 (12.6 games)
4 Burke 1,040 (11.6 games)
5 Surridge 456 (5 games)

It's not just McBurnie adversely impacted by this misuse of stats: Surridge has made 2 starts since he scored against Barnsley. The other 16 appearances were off the bench and 7 of those were for less than 15 minutes. Hardly fair to chastise him for not scoring in those circumstances...and he's now at Forest on loan so he's nailed on to score on Friday :)
If I was getting £20k a week to do any job, and hadn't managed to do my job successfully in 1,394 minutes, I'd be looking at new jobs

How is this thread still going?

Fuck me, just support the lad rather than slag him off. How hard is it?

It’s beyond embarrasssing.

Then Sharp has to start up front on his own.
He's got to know that Mcburnie and Sharp together doesn't work. If he thinks Sharp needs resting then Mcburnie has to play alongside Ndiaye or MGW up top. This may suit him better but I'm not holding my breath.

The only thing embarrassing is your relentless ability to see something in his game that no one else does. It's like groundhog day.

Your relentless ability to keep contributing to this thread is exhilarating. Have you tried getting a life maybe?

"The West Ham game when Fleck intercepted their keepers pass and plays it to McBurnie with an open net and he still managed to hit it at the keeper who very nearly saved it."

So now scuffed goals don't count
Of course the goal counts, where did I say it didn't?

But if you watch that goal again you can't tell me that was the finish of a top striker?

If Sharp needs resting then we are better off playing Ben Davies up front!! He has a better touch in front of goal & has proved this.

That is the finish of a TV presenter playing in one of those celebrity v ex player games.

Phillip schofield had a great chance earlier but headed the ball onto his shoulder.... this time he scuffs his shot completely but it somehow goes in and its 1 nil to the celebrities

It was an absolutely shocking finish, of course we all glad it goes in -

Sums him up entirely-

We have seen nothing at all from the dope to suggest he's anything other than total dogshit

Slow
Weak
Cant shoot
Cant head
Cant close down
Cant tackle
Doesn't hit space
Doesn't do anything clever

Can look a twat
Can foul like a slow ponderous oaf

Seriously I would be delighted to see him net some goals - but as of yet I aint seen nothing to suggest anything positive- tell me the positives?

I’ve been worrying about his management since Cardiff away.
Cardiff 2-3 United
Fulham 0-1 United
Derby 2-0 United
Preston 2-2 United
United 2-0 Luton
Peterborough 0-2 United
Birmingham 1-2 United
United 2-0 West Brom
Huddersfield 0-0 United
United 0-0 Hull
United 4-0 Swansea
United 1-0 Blackburn
Millwall 1-0 United

I've been really worried about it too. Not.

I said Brewster would come good, I said Berge would come good. They both have/did.

McB has struggled for a consistent run in the team. If he gets that, he'll come good.
He's been at the club 3 years how much longer do we have to wait for him to come GOOD.. it'd like waiting for madeline Mccan to come home it ain't gonna happen!

Not really though is it...

It's a football forum, where people discuss their views on the performance of players. Why would negative viewpoints be filtered out?
It would be a bit of an odd place if we all just conformed to positive opinions all of the time.

When the same thread is here going round and round in circles with people slagging off one of our players for weeks on end every fucking day yes, it fucking is

8 goals in 80 games, the stats are there for all to see.
A bit of a disingenious statement. makes it sound like he's played 80 matches 90mins per match! Don't know the exact stats but he's not played many mins of 80 matches.

He's shite. Look back at videos of strikers who aren't up there with the best we've had, but were sort of averagely OKish. Gareth Taylor, Andy Gray, Jack Lester, Danny Webber, Marcelo etc etc....See how they play and how they actually SCORE! They're all a million times better than Mcburnie. How much longer and how many more chances does he get?

Double negatives? How's that for a positive?

He doesn't though. People are judging him purely on the lack of goals. I could understand it if he was giving the ball away every time it came to him, but he's not.

I get that he's a striker paid to score goals, and they will come the more games he plays.

The problem I see currently is that we are trying to shoehorn him in to build up his fitness and confidence, but it doesn't work alongside Sharp. And unfortunately, we can't drop Sharp.
Last season, and the season before, he gave the ball away more than any other outfield player in the division [WhoScored, FotMob] . This season he's slightly improved but still gives the ball away roughly 1 in every 3 passes [33.1%], and lies 302nd in the league of keeping possesion. Below him there's 17 goalkeepers who obviously have goalkicks and clearances added. Our very own Wes Foderingham keeps possesion more often and he often has to hack the ball clear etc

Doesn’t matter how you dress it up, he’s scored 8 goals for Sheffield United in best part of 3 years, at a cost of a few million £!
