Mcburnie

One things for sure, we better start blooding Jebbo very soon, as in starting tonight, because he's one injury from having to be thrown in at the deep end.

I have been more than critical of McBurnie at times, but ultimately want anyone in red and white to come good, for our benefit - and we're going to need him.

What I will say, is that we've never played to his strengths. He thrives off pass and move football - the Barnsley and Swansea seasons are evidence of that, the Swansea squad was very deliberately created for pass and move, with lots of players swapping positions and creating overloads. He thrived from contributing to that. We had that under Duffyball, but McBurnie never played that system - he arrived as we reverted to a flat midfield 3, and even when we were flying in that first half a season, none of his goals were 'Swansea like'. Then he suffered the drop off of form, style and tactics that they all did.

Now, we're finally playing that way again, with Bogle, MGW, N'Diaye, Didz, Brewster and others playing that pass and move football and his comfort with that was there to see again - hence his role in the second WBA goal.

Stick him as a target man and don't get runners around him, and he'll look isolated, lacklustre and languid. He won't create for himself.

Play how we have been doing, and let him get back to basics as LewishamBlade has said, and there may just be a player in there.

Sharp is one of those ‘ball in the back of net’ strikers. We could do with someone else helping out!

and that is the crux of the problem - the TEAM needs someone else as was seen v Huddersfield on Saturday.

The management have said the only other recognised striker isn't quite up to the speed of the others in training, which is fine - but an 80-90% functioning Jebbo sounds a much better option than McB.

Would much rather see us play 3421 with N'diaye and MGW sitting behind Sharp and simply out pass and out move Hull than hopefully expecting McB to step up - some of us keep waiting for something that won't happen.

UTB

And?

He couldn't and didn't replicate it at Huddersfield because there was nothing like that sort of space against an extremely well organized team who are unbeaten since November. When our best creative outlet was having a stinker supporting the forwards. Go figure.
You've simply reinforced my point. His passing when put under pressure was found wanting.

Eh? 🤣 When did we get the ball to his or Billy's feet and play around them exactly?
The play broke down on numerous occasions as he gave short, underhit passes allowing them to break on us. As posted on Saturday I felt he at least looked a bit more interested at Huddersfield if nothing else. As Kozzie has just posted no one wants him to be a failure. I'm not bothered by his social media antics in the least I just want him to produce something. The only things being produced currently are excuses.

Think you might wanna watch the game back fella

My last hope is that he’s one of those players that when he’s not completely on it, his body language and looseness of style makes him look like he genuinely can’t play football.

There’s been a handful of good moments since he came, he was quality before signing for us, surely nows the time to finally produce something for Utd.

Last chance saloon, this is his third season and he’s averaging a goal every ten games for us. It’s just not good enough

That's the frustration isn't it. I remember against Brighton in his first season he absolutely ragdolled dunk and Duffy all game, scored a great goal. But since then not much to write home about.

Yep, good strong performance at home to Man City, nice goal against Spurs and a belting header against Chelsea but it’s all just been too far and few between the good moments.

I want him to do well I don’t dislike him but for me I’d start Jebbison ahead of him he’s had 2 games 0 goals and it’s business end of season.

Usual scoreline when we play Mc Bumhole. For fucks sake Hecky..bench the useless cunt.72% possesion 22 shots ...12 corners..0 goals.

He's shit. End of. Thread not open to further replies.
The best passes tonight were by McB after the first 15 mins when Houlahan was good.
McB was only given one clear opportunity, his other chances were made by him or were him making the most of dreadful crossing.
I don’t think he played well but he was better than most of the team tonight.

He did alright but doesn't look sharp enough to get on half chances, all his good play was nowhere near the goal

But did you not see that link up play on the half way line? Norwood gave it him and he gave it Norwood back.. what a fucking player!!!
...been watching his team mates who generally slowed things down and passed it back to someone, often in an orange shirt !

Maybe if we had put a few decent balls into the box eh? Can't blame McBurnie the service was shite same for billy when he came on nothing for the strikers only scraps and half chances.
Mcburnie had 6 chances tonight off which 1 was on target

Norwood had a terrible ten minutes when passing. But the bedwetters raised him from zero to hero after a couple of, admittedly very good, games so now pile in again on McBurnie. .

WTF!! we had 22 shots, McBurnie had 5 maybe 6 efforts on goal ffs. You wanting him to have a chance 1 yard out with their defenders stood cheering him on. This love in for this useless lump is getting out of control.

Who was to blame for the other sixteen misses?

How long is left on his contract? Unless we can convince him to terminate his contract by mutual agreement in the summer then we're stuck with the flapping donkey, as no one is going to buy him. The best we can hope is that someone is dumb enough to take him on a season long loan next season.
