We seemed to have been very close to signing Maupay, rumours of the agent fee being a stumbling block? Don’t believe all you read though I guess as McBurnie is a different type player so I cannot see it being a case of one or the other.

I’d have seen Maupay as more of a Sharp replacement, with McBurnie being more of a Madine replacement from the season before.

Of the two I’d say Maupay will go on to bigger things and command a bigger transfer fee from their next fees but lets not underestimate the role McBurnie played in our ‘survival’ last season and the role he’ll play in it this season. But from there I do hope CW is looking for an upgrade.
