McBurnie interview

I've not seen the interview either however the comment on the end of the article quotes McBurnie as having said 'the Scotland set-up was shite'. Now if the Scots took a moment to think and ask why with the moderate set of players they have to call upon they are sailing down the rankings and getting pummelled by teams who shouldn't be as good as them, maybe just maybe they'll come to the same conclusion.

Hindsight is obviously a wonderful thing. Again, not seen it so can't get too excited by it, but from what i've read and what you've said, it was a throw away comment which blew up as it was taken out of context

It was a mistake by the media team, sure. It was probably a lesson to McBurnie and other players to watch what they say. Was it a howler? Not really.

Just because there has been a backlash on social media by a few empty vessels, doesn't mean that we should hang people for the crime. Context is key.

Presumably nobody at the club is really that experienced with having such close interaction with the camera and microphone, so just a case of everyone being a bit more attentive of what they say when cameras are.

I struggle hugely with things like this. Some people take life too seriously.

The last few years we have built a very good relationship between the club and fans, but with the football public as a whole. The promotion videos were not sanitised and they were loved by pretty much everyone. In a world where top level footballers are increasingly seen as disconnected from reality, we have a club which normal fans can relate to

Yes we could've done what Norwich did and keep everything behind closed doors, but that's not us.

I'm not so daft to believe that this isn't an issue, it was a daft throw away comment which shouldn't be heard in public, but i would be cautious of the club taking too many steps to sanitise itself to prevent any damage to its premier league image or whatever.

This interview gives us all the opportunity to realise what a down to earth and career committed lad McBurnie is.

We've got ourselves a Tyke and a Scot all in one and an international foootballer ( played loads at various levels) who explains it all in honest, open and personal terms. It gives us a perspective of the pressures this very young man is under for his country and at his new club.

He responded to this totally avoidable betrayal by his new club with honesty and endeavour in training and on the pitch.

The media man has not just made a 'mistake'. He has demonstrated a complete lack of common sense and lack of awareness of the consequences for our player. Surely thats the best connotation that can be put on his actions.

Wilder will be furious. He has staked a lot on the player who is under enough pressure without this. The lad is a 'different' player and it will take time for his attributes and character to be fully appreciated and understood.

No problem whatsoever with criticising them, they fucked up. On the other hand, whining for people to lose their jobs takes a special sort of person.

Media howler without a doubt but “backlash from the Tartan Army” is bollocks. Basically the Celtic and Aberdeen element who would hate him for being a Rangers fan regardless of the comments, with the added bonus of him being English to add to their meths irn bru and heroin cocktail induced hatred of both.

Honest mistake from the media team. Whoever heads it up will have received a bollocking, no doubt. Not worth someone being sacked over though for christ's sake.

Just seen the comment for the first time, it is just one of them stupid things we can say about work (its crap ect), it looks like it was just a bit of banter but why on earth was anything like that uploaded in the first place? The quality of the video wasn't even great in the first place.
 
Mcburnie has been dropped for tonight guess they have found they're scapegoat.

Love the mindset of some of the scottish fans that they can't see the link between their players playing like shells of themselves in their national team and heaps of abuse they heap on a young player who dared to play averagely in a very poorly performing team while having the ball lumped to him with no support.

No wonder the scottish players look hesitant and bereft of confidence.
 
Pleased that Mcb will be rested for Saturday when he can get back to playing proper football. Also gives me an incentive now not to watch attack versus defence tonight.
 
It’s an interesting take from Scotland fans laughing that Swansea have had our pants down.

This lad scored 20 odd goals last season and is off the mark in the Premier League. Chris Wilder, LMA manager of the year, rates him highly enough to spend £17.5m on him.

The fact he’s struggled in a Scotland shirt and has reservations about the set up suggests the problem is at their end. They might do well to wake up to this.
 



Scotland need to play two forwards in my view. You can't expect much playing McBurnie up top on his own and isolated. If he was playing up in Scotland , was Scottish born and bread and called Hamish McTavindish and scoring goals for Celtic then I think it would be a totally different approach to him. They seem to hate the view that the SPL is average at best, even though Celtic's results in Europe prove how bad it is.

McBurnie will prove them wrong for definite.
