Maybe he wasn’t one of our own after all?

I don't know every minor detail but I know some stuff from people close to CW but can't share specifics. I do know though that he has at times been undermined by those above him and a situation was created where he felt unable to properly do his job. I know a bit about what he thinks of the people in charge and I know about his general feelings for the club. I can categorically say this wasn't a case of him just wanting a bigger club etc. Very much to do with the conduct of those above him.
He's left us for WBA in the summer.

I'll admit I don't understand why the club didn't alter its policy when it became clear we weren't going to get any of the players we wanted with the wages we were offering. It's alright blaming the wage structure, but not when you don't act on it. How much would it really have cost? How much danger would it have put the club in? I don't know, I'd be interested to see some figures. I'd also like to know who made the policy and would be interested to know how much Wilder backed it, but we'll probably never know that.
However, one thing is certain, it was a major factor - probably the major factor - in making the signings we made (or rather didn't make) but some people just don't want to see it.
Completely agree.

The problem is that transfer fees tend to be paid over three or four years but wages have to be paid every month so you can't even look at the fees and think wow, how much could those have boosted our wages budget by.

With wages cash flow becomes the major issue on a day to day basis and there isn't a lot flowing in at the moment.

The wages for a centre half went on Brewster ?
Could you not get a decent centre half for his fee and wages ?

my comment has been proven

It's possible you could get a centre half for the wages and the fee that we paid for Brewster. It's possible that there wasn't one available at the time. It's possible that we tried to get one and were turned down, it's possible that we didn't even look for one. I do know that all the fans were crying out for a striker who could score and saw that as a major reason why we were doing so badly.
It doesn't change the fact that we were fishing in a very small pool and the "choice" was very limited.

Your comment was one that people throw out when they don't agree with someone but have no counter argument. It's only been proven in your own mind.

The last point I made in post 176 has been proven again
You are entitled to your opinion but please do not tell me what mine should be

If it helps and gets you to stick your bottom lip back in, everything I post on here is my opinion, my perspective or my view of what the facts are.

"Pleaded"? We offered him a contract and he chose Liverpool. As with way too many of our signings we didn't really bother with back up plans
of course he chose liverpool they pay the going rate and we were in for him before liverpool entered the scene but he was not interested ,probably on more where he was

We offered double his current wage with a reduction to a similar, but slightly higher wage than his current one if relegated

You said yourself that the signings had to be made within the wage structure then criticised him for the choice of signings. His signings were made from a drastically reduced pool of players because of the wage structure. If you think there was a wide choice of players available who wanted to sign for low wages, you should perhaps list a few, because I don't think there were many of the quality that we needed.
Your last sentence is uncalled for and a bit pathetic.
SPOT ON MATE SPOT ON

Right mate we lost half a doz quality players to other clubs because of this wage structure mainly to Villa Fulham .As soon as other clubs started sniffing around we knew we had lost out.

Aside from the fact our wage bill was too low (in line with the roadmap he seemingly agreed with) this post is total nonsense.

He’d have walked into the job at Liverpool, Man Utd, and Tottenham would he?
Tuchel, Arteta and Ancelotti were presumably second choices after Wilder turned them down. Jesus fucking Christ, there’s some erroneous shite being thrown around at the minute.
Well you do seem to be an expert on what you express as SHIT you so elliquently put it.IF YOU READ THE POST I SAID 80% OF JOBS ON OFFER.Can not remember Man u job coming up or the Liverpool job either . I do remember him being linked to the Gunners Everton Newcastle . Can you tell me when the Man u job came up or the Liverpool one ?
Your name suggests you are an expert on the subject of shite

There seems to be a lot of people on here who are just like him
He's not starting threads etc. And he's not making a big deal of it. Honestly it's completely up to you to believe what you like. I believe this

It seems the emotional fanboys are out in force again.
The facts are that Chris engineered his way out of the club with a payoff, although not as substantial as he would have liked.
It is quite clear to those who can control their emotions that Wilder was acting like a petulant kid when he wasn't getting his own way!
The board have evert right to talk about bringing in a DOF, as his signings since we got promoted (and a lot before that) have been appalling. He has wasted millions and he didn't deserve to spend a penny more.
Chris said he didn't want to risk the financial stability of the club, so he can't moan about paying higher wages. Maybe the Chairman wanted us to have a similar plan to Norwich. Yo yo for a few years, but live within our means and build year on year.
At the end of the day, Chris presided over one of the worst runs in history and made us the second worst team to ever compete in the Premiership.
Questions to the Wilder fanboys:
Why did Chris refuse to change our formation when we were getting beat week after week and where was this tactical genius' plan B?
Why did Chris keep playing Lundstram, when he wouldn't commit? Duffy was thrown out for a similar reason.
Why did Chris come across as downbeat and uninspiring in interview after interview, throughout the season?
Why did he buy players and not play to their strengths?
The answer overall is that he orchestrated his way out of the club, knew he couldn't save us from the drop and wanted the sack, so that he could get a substantial pay out. Thr Prince wouldn't play ball, so a compromise has been reached.
Chris has now left us with an aging first team squad and a load of players who are probably league 1 level at best.
What has happened has happened.
We shouldn't cry for a man who no longer represents us, so we move forward as a club.
