Matty Taylor or Dennis Taylor? :D

We won't be seeing a Matty Taylor type for years , Rovers will have him valued beyond what we sold Che for.
We might manage that used BMW for one of Kev's kids though.

He seems like a player who loves the club he plays at. I can't remember the last time one of our players was like that. (Apart from Brayford when Clough was here)

back to the player if it is a players car....
Everyone has picked up on the Saville-esq blonde but what about the bloke in black trousers behind her, he's a fuckin giant, would make a reight centre-half..

whoever he is he is giant compared to the blonde bloke, how does he even fit in the BMW!

that's what I said size of him, would be good in defence, or as a target man...

CW has just said we've been given stupid valuations. I'm sure he said one was 750k and opened was 1.5m.
Taylor would easily be the latter if not more, I'm not knocking the club but we ain't spending over 500k for anyone in this window.

That's right pig end, if this is true we sell a bloke not in our first 11 who has played less than 2 yrs at pro level scoring 12 goals in his best season for 1.7m. Then we expect to replace him with the main man at one of our rivals who scored 27 last season, has 2 already this season, just signed a new contact and is 26 for less !

When they tell us to f off we complain about the state of the market ....only at Bramall Lane where it's like Life on Mars and we are stuck in the 1970s !!

I reckon this Taylor interest will be completely false. United will have put the info out there so it looks like they're being ambitious and aiming high. Fair play to them, it's a bit more shrewd than Johnny Russell.

Pretty sure Sharp has a bit of love for us too. Regardless of manager
If apparently Preston/Ipswich come knocking for Billy... will he stay? That's the point im trying to make. He loves the club to not leave when tempted away by other offers

was still parked in same place at 10:30 this morning, though Camilla Parker-Bowles had gone. I can confirm that the car does not have significant accident damage - a few very minor scratches so would be offered perhaps £100 for it by webuyanycar.com

Not sure if it's the club or us fans that need to get a dose of realistic....if we don't want to pay more than 200k for a player who is on the top of their game we need to be looking in the right place. That sort of money resides in Scotland or non league.

Furthermore, who is deciding it's too much?.... Wilder? The owner? The transfer committee blokes from the board?

My theory is that it's too much because we can't afford it. Take for example Vardy. We had him on our doorstep for years....ignored him.
He went up the leagues scoring goals for fun....still ignored him.
He went to Fleetwood....we looked...£1m too expensive for a non league player??
Turns out not...after he fired Leicester up and to the premier league title and himself into the England team. Point being, would that £1m have been a sound investment for us?
TOO SHITTING RIGHT IT WOULD....but hey...apparently those who decided it was too much knew best!

And so how many more opportunities do we turn away...through a little short sightedness.
In the last 5 years we have bought only a handful of players that have gone on to gain significantly in value.
Adams...Murphy...not many more jump to mind.

We have ignored local talent for years, it's nothing new. I remember Vardy in junior football and non league and up to 20 years old he was going nowhere so it's no surprise we didn't sign him. And in any case we weren't the only local club that overlooked him were we. It reminds me of when Maradona was looked at and people said years later that we could have made a fortune if we had signed him. But, people forget that this is Sheffield United and the possibility of him remotely turning out as he did is minuscule. Same with Vardy, he would have ended up being treated like George Long.

And in reality Vardy's biggest transfer fee is £1M so it wouldn't have been a big windfall for us would it.

I think we all know if we had taken on Vardy while he was scoring almost a goal a game...at the right age when he clearly was determined to make it in the game we would no doubt have sold him for a profit on that. We could have picked him up from Stocksbridge...or how about Halifax for considerably less than a million. If Leicester had sold him even prior to last season they would have easily got more than a million for him.
Fact is, he's just one example of paying the "right price" for a player if you can see he's going to go up in value.
Our club have been talking this kind of game for years, but have no idea how to pull it off.

They seem to think that non league players can't cost more than "X"....Lg 2 players....."y" and so on.

Che Adams....did well to pick him up. A lot of scouting from the manager and his team as well as huge effort getting as good a deal as possible for United took place. For the first time I can remember we got in there and signed a player despite interest from others better placed.
i hope we are not just talking the talk....because if we are looking at good players and then balking at what clubs want we are wasting our time. Because we won't go into a player negotiation for a teams better player and them say we want this....and our guys going...thats an accurate and fair valuation, where do we sign!

If we have a plan, a way we want to play and have players targeted that will pull this off at some point we have to pay what these teams want. Otherwise we just end up going down signing nobody.

Our club is stuck back in the days of the old flat caps Grizzly.
The club has been left behind and needs someone wake it up , drag it back into the 21st century.

I wear a flat cap, Wots wrong wi dat?

And yeh, the 21st century is miles away, you'll be claiming man has powered flight next.

Now, where's me wooden rattle

Keep it real Mr T

We are a 3rd world team in terms of infrastructure! Very Zimbabweistic due to the fact all the money goes into one gout ridden parasites pocket while he watches and laughs at his subjects from the roof of his ivory hotel.

We could have picked him up from Stocksbridge or Halifax ... but we didn't. I see what you are saying Grizzly but it's the usual shortsightedness from this club. Although Vardy, being a die hard piggy, would have come if he had been offered the chance. But, it's no good saying that Leicester would have got more than £1M for him if they had sold him, they didn't. I also agree that we do need to be flexible when it comes to negotiating for players and not try and get players on the cheap as it appears we are missing out on too many.

More malicious, couldn't be further from the truth, bollocks about Kevin McCabe? Just what we needed...

So, we pay over the odds for several years (forget fees, salaries are where the outlay is) and the club get castigated for it. We need to sign players at this level on more equitable salaries was the plea. It happens and it's still wrong, we aren't paying enough. Confused.com

It was vardys off field antics that made him stay at that level for so long. If he stayed in the area he probably wouldn't be the player he is.

look at mcfadzean. Similar case.
