Having read some of the thoughts on the Rochdale forum it seems were getting a gem. Most of them are having a go and literally giving up on Rochdale seen as they've sold Scott Hogan and Matty Done these past 2 years. It also seems Clough will nurture him as a strike not a winger with his comments in yesterday Star. "
“Matty has a lot of pace and we could have done with him against Preston, to give us that spark,” Clough said.
“We haven’t really got anyone to hang on defenders’ shoulders and give them a problem going the other way, so we’re delighted that he’s on board.
“We have the option to play him wide, although we think he’s been used more centrally at Rochdale this season, and he’s scored and made goals this season. We’ve done it here with a couple of players, changing their positions, and they look better for it. He looks better centrally and we’ll hopefully get him plenty of service, and hope he can chip in with goals.
“He was a long-term target for us and we first went in for him at the start of January, although we couldn’t agree a fee.”

This is his comments, the "Although we think he's been used more centrally" This shows Cloughie is going to play him up top.

I think we need more than hope Cloughie, he has to score!!! ;)

To be fair, against Preston, on three ocasions, we played some smart stuff that just did not come off, on all three occasions,(all in the first half), JCR beat his man and fired in low, across the goal line, and (first two) McNulty tried a cheeky back heel into goal, both were a few feet wide. Third one, JCR fires in low, Goalie is ready to pouce on McNulty, who diummied and let it roll past to Scougall for the easy tap in, but he didn;t seem to realise what the plan was and watched it roll past, could have changed thegame, who knows.

Matty Done, for me, has to be the marauding forward, running centrally at goal, using pace and power. Let's hope so.

All the YouTube vids I've watched show he is and also he has a very decent touch on him.

In the game against Stoke there were a number of occasions where he showed fantastic determination and bravery, really throwing himself into challenges. He's also got the pace to get in behind defences and he was constantly on the move. Hope he's completely over his injury which he suffered in that game.
