I've not been any pre-season games, and can't recall seeing Matt Lowton before, so whats the story with him, and will he be starting next week?

He's good. As with the vast majority of our youngsters, he's also comfortable on the ball. Coming on well playing in and around the more experienced pros.

The plan was to loan him out this season, but I'd be tempted to keep him in and around the team.

This. If he's going to toughen up, he might as well do it at this level than Div 2. Will get a chance this season.

I saw him at Burton and he looked very good there. Made some great passes forward from the back. I'm with Foxy, I hope he stays around and challenges for a first team place.

He won't just challenge for a first team place S64 he will be an integral member of the first eleven.

He looked excellent against Estudiantes today. Looked calm and assured at centre half and reacted well for his goal. He should start against Cardiff IMO, but I would be tempted to deploy him at right back.

I'm not one to get carried away with youngsters but if what I saw today is an indication of his potential, then you could be looking at the new Jagielka in a few years time............

Let's hope we insist on a cut of any sale once we've sold him cheaply to Spurs or Everton next year.

Saw him when he came on at Cardiff for second half last season and when he started at Ipswich last game.Looked an excellent prospect.Cant understand why he was only offered a twelve month contract when he was hoping for a two year deal.Another one that will probably be plucked from us because of our inability to be more positive and sign him to a longer contract.

Aah, Blades alchemy. Take one positive thread about a promising new youngster, sprinkle in a bit of South Yorkshire Optimism, and we all seem to end up moaning.

we could have sold Jags far earlier, but we managed to hold on to him and in return got promotion and almost stayed in the Premiership. well done Blades.

we made seven million last year selling academy players - one of whom had played less than half a dozen games for ús. well done Blades.

we're bringing through a new crop of promising young players. well done Blades.

Was first time i saw him live yesterday and he looked fantastic. A word of caution he played two passes that if Monty had done them we wouldnt have heard the last.

And if he plays them every week for a decade you will Boo.

Looks too weak, will get mauled by big Championship Strikers.

He's quick, good passing, good at going forward, looks comfortable on the ball. Lacks strength though; i noticed at Ipswich he went down in challenges from their midfielders often
