How frustrated must you be if you're him right now?

He's gone from playing direct, attacking football with Rochdale to feeding off aimless hoof balls and painfully slow counter attacking, which by the time the ball reaches him, there are also 3 or 4 opposition players accompanying it.

Perhaps if he stayed with Rochdale until the end of the season and continued to do the biz, he might have landed himself a summer transfer to an ambitious club. Instead, he's got our Nige reminding him that working the channels is more important then looking like a goal threat.

I don't get Cloughs' banging on about working the channels, you aren't going to score goals while you're out there are you. I'd say one of the only times a striker needs to work the channels are when you're infront, holding on to a lead, that's very rare for us at the moment, or you have midfielders bombing through the middle, which we also don't have in abundance.

I like the look of S. Davies, but since he's been here Done hasn't looked no where near as much of a threat, so that's yet another conundrum Clough has to sort out. Best of luck Cloughy, i think you're going to need it.

He's scored six in 9 for us, against 14 in 30 for Rochdale this season.

Just sayin.
There's nothing wrong with his goal ratio, but it's quite clear that if you've seen the games since S.Davies has come in that he isn't as effective as he was when he first came imo.

And that is a testament to his ability as a striker, which I never brought into question.

The point I am making (based on seeing him play a few times) is that our 'style' of play doesn't suit him. He is an intelligent footballer who gets himself into good space and shows good movement off the ball. But that is wasted on us at the moment. If he was playing in a side that plays on the front-foot similar to Rochdale, but with better players, he would flourish imo. His goalscoring record given the service he has been provided is truly remarkable.

He has done what they class in the trade as feeding of scraps and he's done it brilliantly.

You are making that judgement after two games where he has scored a goal and should have had another yesterday ? I thought they were starting to building an understanding towards the end of the game yesterday with Done starting to read Davies' hold up play and runs.
Two games is no time at all to judge a partnership but the fact he was still getting chances would suggest you are being a tad harsh at the moment in my opinion.

Matt Done is a very good league 1 player , but we cannot heap a boat load of pressure on the bloke . He has Rochdale , Barnsley , Blades on his CV , therefore he will be inconsistent and have his ups and downs.

We are a better side and a threat when he is playing , even if he doesn't score . The bloke runs on Duracell batteries.

...hmmm, 6 in 9 and his bank manager's a lot happier...I think Done is thinking about the next two or three seasons with us..still, if we're stuck in L1 and he carries on at this rate some Championship club will offer a million or two for him next season so don't worry too much...

I think the point Highbury is making, is if Rochdale's style is so much better for him than ours, why is he scoring more often for us than he did for them?

It's a short period to judge of course, but I doubt he's feeling particularly frustrated with his 6 in 9.

He might even think that it's not a bad return considering he is still trying to figure out the ideal system and team under his new manager. 6 in 9 and people getting on to him, should imagine he could be a but confused and wondering where the comments have gone about the Blades not scoring.

I'm not going on the goals mate, although ultimately that's what he'll be judged upon, i'm just giving my assesment on what iv'e seen so far with the two of them, maybe it is early but there is a thread on him so i thought i'd comment. I certainly don't want to sound harsh on the pair of them, especially Done who's been a breath of fresh air since he's come in, very refreshing to see a player run through a brick wall for the cause so to speak. They propably will eventually hit it off but will Cloughy persist long enough while we're not getting results? We all know Cloughy likes to change it about if things aren't going right. I want him to keep both of them playing, lets hope Cloughy does too.

On a sidenote, i think Holt will have a part to play in the run in and will also get some goals, aslong as he plays with S.Davies and Done, looks a real threat from what iv'e seen of him.
