I probably expect a bit too much from United at times and last night was probably one of those times....Hecky clearly sent them out with a message of, "treat it as a pre-season game, don't get fucking injured, if we win, we win, if we don't meh....it's minutes in the legs"....because that is exactly how it looked from the away end. It was a flat performance, flat atmosphere and flat game.....I left also feeling flat....you hope that fringe players will stake a claim for a starting place in the next league game or at least give the manager something to think about but no-one really shone at all.

First 15/20 minutes we looked OK and were the better side, Brewster hit the post and Arblaster had the follow up saved when it seemed we must surely score....but that was about it as West Brom grew into the game and it was played out at fairly pedestrian pace. Tried the 4-3-3 and looked for balls into space over their full backs which worked a couple of times and we got in behind but we still did the same old things like turning back when in the final third.

Ratings;

Wes - 9/10 superb display, could easily have been 3 or 4, (not that they battered us at all) if West Brom had taken their chances.
Gordon - 5/10 started awful, got slightly better. Would benefit from a loan season away, should have cut out the cross for the goal.
Anel - 7/10 didn't put a foot wrong
Egan - 6/10 usual Eags, dependable but still capable of giving possession away in dangerous places
Lowe - 1/10 complete and utter dog shit, get rid. Forest dodged a bullet by not signing him.
Arblaster - 6/10 He has obviously been to the Norwood school of pointing for which he get's a 10/10. Otherwise he did OK, but just OK.
Norwood - 6/10 Pretty uneventful game, didn't give the ball away like he did v Milwall
Fleck - 7/10 Went off at HT but probably our best player first half, looked hungry so wouldn't be surprised if he had been told his place is under threat.
McAtee - 6/10 Started well, lovely close control and quick thinking. Tired in the second half, looking forward to seeing more of him
Khadra - 6/10 drifted in and out but didn't get the service. Few occasions first half he had lost his man and was gone but the pass never came, (it went backwards instead)
Brewster - 6/10 and that's just because he hit the post. Looks like he's trying too hard and needs to concentrate on being a striker, drops too deep or drifts out wide too often

Subs

Osborn - 4/10 came on for Fleck, ran about, didn't do much, went off
Sander - 6/10 came on for Osborn, did a few Sander things, we looked better with him on the grass
Clark - 6/10 on for Anel, did OK
Doyle - 6/10 on for McAtee, looked promising, played in the 10 position if that means anything but I reckon he could outs norwood eventually
Sharp - 5/10 on for Khadra, didn't do much

Fans - most sat down like it was a pre season friendly, hardly sang, couldn't even be arsed to raise to the West Brom Bants! There was this one mouthy cunt though, absolutely smashed off his face, shouting, swearing, moaning whilst his mate next to him just sat their gobbing on the floor every 2 minutes...no wonder there's some Blade on Blade fighting with dickheads like him around....Simon Moore was sat on the row in front of him squirming, the bloke was a grade a cock, completely embarrassing. Looked like something had gone off with him on the way out, or he had thrown up, I hope it was the former and someone had lamped him one.

Only seen highlights - but got to agree Wes was outstanding- he's very very good at getting down quick-

I know it's all board talk crap- but straight up I prefer him to Rammers.

Listening to RS commentary which can be iffy, it sounded like none of the newbies impressed. RS now has the obligatory female expert and didn't cover themselves in glory as with 10 mins to go they replaced the match commentary with the Toby Foster morning show. FFS.
Yes the commentary was third rate .What's happened to Edwards at least he knows what he is talking about and is honest with his views and can be amusing to . Yesterdays commentary was so drab . For Gods sake RS smarten it up . Apart from Toby Foster being on for 10 mins half way through the match the commentary team sounded so dull . So third rate.

Looks like Osborn has picked up an injury.
The Stir at it again. Last night's interview Hecky cleared stated that Osborn had a minor issue with his hamstring earlier in week....

Brewster needs Sharp up front with him like last season. They were the pair that started to click and Brewster got going just before his injury.

Information has leaked out slowly hasn't it? Because the game wasn't on Tele. Nor on a stream. And the radio sounds hit and miss. But, there's been highlights. And anyone who wanted to has now seen the clips.

Is there any analysis of the beer though? There is now.
